Are cheap running shoes really that bad?

So distinguishing between expensive running shoes and cheap running shoes can be done in several ways, but if we take into account that running is such an individual sport, then in this case you should not look at the material differences in a running shoe. If it lives up to your expectations and requirements, then it is a good (and perhaps cheap) running shoe. Then you should not look at the price.

Strong competition gives consumers cheap running shoes

There is huge competition in the market for running shoes. More and more manufacturers are emerging, and more and more exciting running shoes are coming to the shelves of Danish stores and webshops. And the mere fact that there is a larger supply gives you as a consumer cheaper running shoes. The individual manufacturers are more or less forced to adapt to the market and set the price of a running shoe at a level that it can handle. At least not higher, but many times it ends up with a price slightly lower because the manufacturers want to sell some shoes..

Today, it’s all a bit more confusing. There are offers all the time. Stores feel pressured by online shopping, and online shopping feels compelled to match the prices from foreign webshops. They have (unfortunately) got the tendency that even the newest version of this running shoe is put on sale and sold cheaper from day one. The same offers then run throughout the season and you are presented with the same offer during the sale. Yes, the sale that should actually be cheaper than the normal offers on running shoes.
The primary reason for this boring trend (for retailers) is that this running shoe is so popular and so many are sold throughout Denmark and everyone wants a piece of the pie. And if you, as a retailer, want to sell some running shoes, you have to sell them cheaper, because otherwise you as a consumer will just place your order somewhere else. And that is also fair enough, selfishly speaking. The individual consumer thinks about his own wallet.

If you want cheap running shoes, you have to be careful at the garden gate, because of course this is not the case with all models of running shoes, as it is with Asics Nimbus and Kayano..
Running shoe manufacturers change their models 2 on average 2 times a year. And this is where you can find cheap running shoes. There are like 2 scenarios when there are changes from the manufacturers’ side:

The running shoe changes color but not the version number – Here you will find cheaper running shoes. Not as cheap as if the version number had also changed. But the stores and online stores want to clean up their stocks. And when a shoe is replaced by a new color, everyone fights to realize their stock of the “old colors”. This gives cheap running shoes to the consumer. And it’s not so bad, the running shoe that was brand new 4-5 months ago has now gone and become “old”. But it is the same material running shoe that you might have drooled over a little when it hit the market six months ago.

The running shoe changes both color and version number -This is where the ultra cheap running shoes come in.
