One thing is certain – and that is that the trend is clear. Brooks is becoming more and more popular as the years go by. And that is even though you actually find them in fewer and fewer “regular” sports stores, at least in Denmark. Brooks may not make the smartest and most beautiful running shoes in the world, but it is perhaps the brand that has the most technology behind their productions. With them, it is not only sales that are the most important thing. It is also important to make running shoes that you can stand behind.

Let me briefly touch on my various favorite shoes, which are also the best shoes from Brooks in my opinion.

For pronation and neutral

I run with a slight pronation wedge, so I speak on behalf of runners with the same running style.

I can recommend in every way Brooks Adrenaline GTS, which is my personal favorite shoe. It is perhaps the best Brooks running shoe on the market at the moment.

If you are a neutral runner, you should consider Brooks Glycerin, which I have only heard good things about (and I have read a lot of reviews and ratings of that shoe).

Til Natural running

Their latest series of “Pure” running shoes proved to be quite a good response for the running elite in Denmark and abroad. This led to a sharp increase in sales. This makes them one of the best-selling running brands in Denmark today. I am personally a big fan of their pure series. There are different shoes within this series, all of which fall under the natural running category. The focus has been to give you a more natural feeling while running. Where traditional running shoes are very heavy and stiff, pure running shoes are light and flexible.

Within the pure series, I have been particularly happy with the PureGrit for trail running. It is soft and comfortable. However, I would not use it for competitive running as I feel like I lose a lot of energy when landing because it is so soft. However, for training it is an excellent trail shoe.

Suitable for asphalt racing PureCadence me excellent. It is a shoe I have been happy with since its first release. I can recommend this shoe in many ways.

My experiences with Brooks shoes

Selection

You will find the following types of shoes:

• 80% Asphalt / all-round / everyday / multi-purpose
• 10% Trail / off trail / mountain
• 10% Minimalism / natural / (barefoot)

I have put percentages in front of each type of shoe. These numbers indicate my assessment of how much focus Brooks has on the different genres. It is primarily shoes for all-round use that are focused on, and I must also admit that this is where they do particularly well.

They have a few trail shoes and natural running shoes, but the selection is limited. However, I must admit that the popularity of these niche running shoes is growing rapidly. Brooks is betting heavily on the trail genre, as many opinion leaders are in this genre of running.

Durability

The biggest advantage of choosing Brooks sports shoes is their durability. If you are not the type who wants to change shoes every month, Brooks can be an excellent choice. All shoes come with an extra strong outsole, as well as extra protection in the upper, which greatly increases durability. It is typically in the outsole or the upper mesh that running shoes break.

Fit

I can’t help but criticize the fit around the heel of Brooks running shoes. By Asics shoes,the heel sits as if molded into the shoe, but Brooks is a bit lagging on this point. That said, I would like to commend them for having shoes that fit well even over very long distances. If you run a marathon or longer, you will find that Brooks is among the brands that fit best over the distance.

As for width, their shoes are great for those with normal width feet. You can also find their shoes in extra wide or narrow versions. Look for the designations A and B for narrow shoes and 2E and 4E for an extra wide fit.

I think the prices at Brooks are quite reasonable. You can find cheap and expensive shoes, so there is something for every type of runner. If you run 1-2 times a week, there is no need to buy the most expensive running shoes. Instead, I recommend you go for the value for money segment around 900-1100 Danish kroner in recommended retail prices. In online prices you can easily cut 20% of the price, and then Brooks running shoes are suddenly cheap.

When I test Brooks running shoes, I usually come to the same conclusion: they last incredibly well. Typically, the sole breaks in tests of other brands, but that’s not the case here. In addition, other brands tend to break in the mesh (the upper of the shoe), but that hasn’t been a problem for me with Brooks either.

Brook has shoes with a low drop, but that is not their focus. If you are looking for shoes with a very low drop, you should consider looking atInov8 trail running shoes or asphalt shoes.

Who should not buy the brand?

You shouldn’t buy Brooks if you care a lot about the look of your running shoes. If the superficial is most important to you, I recommend you look at Nike sko orAdidas sko. However, it is a matter of taste and preference.

Personally, I think in many ways that Brooks reminds me ofMizuno and Saucony running shoes. In terms of quality, the 3 brands are on a similar level. Mizuno deals a bit with other sports, while Saucony and Brooks are running specialists. The 3 brands are less concerned with the appearance of their shoes than the most popular brands. Personally, as mentioned earlier, I am not a fan of their design choices, but when it comes to functionality, Brooks shoes are top notch.

Making running shoes that actually sell is difficult. One tactic Brooks has adopted is to go after specialty stores. There are about 50 specialty running stores in Denmark – a number that rises and falls slightly as the economy goes. They have chosen to adopt the brand as one of their premium brands due to their specialty within running training. For the same reason, they have been told “no thanks” to stocking the products in Intersport, Sportmaster, Sportigan and Sport24 – they simply are not specialists enough to be able to convey knowledge about the shoes, they say.

This presents challenges for those looking to buy Brooks running shoes on sale online. Very few running stores sell their shoes, as they are not allowed to. Click on the different models, and you will see that I have done my best to find Danish, German and British retailers of Brooks.

Brooks running shoes are special

It’s especially in a world where it’s all about selling. Cutting off the above big chains from being able to sell Brooks running shoes. But nevertheless, in my opinion, it gives a little respect. Of course, I know that Brooks has sales figures they have to reach, and in fact it is said that the shoes sell better than big brands like Adidas and Nike when it comes to the world level.
But can’t help but have some respect for their way of attacking the Danish market. Go a little against the grain and make their brand attractive by profiling it as a high-end brand. A brand that you could find in selected stores with enough knowledge to convey the many details that are in Brooks running shoes. I still think that’s a bit cool.

They also have something to say about it. Because even though their business method is special, so are their running shoes. When you’ve tried running in a pair of Brooks running shoes, it actually makes more sense that they see themselves as a high-end brand. Because you have no doubt that they are picky about the details, and you as a runner are in focus every time a running shoe is manufactured in Brooks’ production halls.

They try to avoid the smaller stores that want to sell the shoes cheaply – that way they maintain their brand as it appears more exclusive. Conversely, we runners have to pay more for the products. I typically test men’s shoes from Brooks. I have also had female testers of Brooks, but if you read reviews here on the specific model page, it is the men’s models you are reading about. Brooks men’s shoes also make up the majority of sales.

Women’s shoes from Brooks come in a wide range of colors and models. However, you should not expect to always be able to find the women’s models on sale. It is a little more difficult than the men’s shoes. However, it must be said that Brooks women’s running shoes are in no way inferior to the men’s shoes.

What distinguishes men and women?

From the start (almost) they have made specific running shoes for women and for men. They have always been fast in the shoes. If you as a woman have a very large foot, you can jump into a pair of Brooks men’s running shoes – but basically they are divided into men’s and women’s, and this should be followed as much as possible. The men’s running shoes are slightly wider than Brooks women’s running shoes – that is the primary reason. In addition, of course, the design, but also the fit is different. When I review running shoes, I always do so in men’s shoes, but you can transfer the vast majority of what I say to women’s shoes. Typically, the shoes come in a women’s and men’s version, but the difference in technical terms is minimal in the two shoes. Many women with large feet run in men’s shoes, and many men with small feet run in women’s shoes.
