All-round top performance trail shoes from Inov8

The shoe for rocks and loose surfaces – Inov8 Trailroc 245. The shoe is designed specifically for running on gravel, rocks and loose rocks. If you are going to climb smaller mountains or make Danish record attempts on some of the lesser-known trail routes, the Inov8 Trailroc 245 is an obvious choice. The shoe is super good for trail systems and very varying surfaces. Watch my video review and see if the shoe is for you.

At 245 grams, the Inov8 Trailroc 245 is among the absolute best shoes from Inov8 – and perhaps the best to date. However, other models such as the Inov8 X Talon 212 and Inov8 Oroc 280 are also extremely good shoes that have other qualities.

What makes the Trailroc so good? First of all, it is in the middle of the Trailroc series in terms of weight, which makes it an incredibly versatile shoe. There is just the right amount of sole material to absorb shock from hard surfaces.

There is support in the sole for racing and training, which is based on the MetaShank gen3 technology, which helps increase underfoot protection.

The Trailroc 245 from Inov8 has an anatomical fit that allows for some movement and flexibility. There is only a 3mm drop, which gives you really good ground grip and light and fast acceleration. The model is unisex and is available in sizes EU 37 up to EU 48 at selected retailers.

Within Trailroc there are different models. Trailroc 245 is without a doubt the most popular in the series. The Trailroc series is built to handle the hard packed rocks and gravel routes. There are 3 outsole components, which give you a soft and comfortable landing on even very hard surfaces – despite a very low sole of only 6 mm, where traditional asphalt running shoes have soles of +20 mm.

There is generally a positive opinion about the Trailroc 245. I have collected a little bit of different information from different reviews, which gives a good insight into the advantages of choosing this particular running shoe.

Overall, I’ve been super happy with the shoe. The shock absorption is adequate (if you’re familiar with natural running). If you’re not into the natural running style, but prefer to land on your heel, then I’m not sure you should jump into shoes from Inov8 in general.
