You probably know it. The training has been hard, the run has been long or you are experiencing some other kind of heavy and tired legs. It could have just been a long week at work. Now there is an easier and faster way to get back on track. It could be the big event or the first marathon is coming up, and that is why it is important to get as many kilometers in your legs as possible or as many training hours in the book as possible. It is easier to achieve all of that if you recover faster, and it is easier to train more intensely with fresher legs.
With Revovery Boots your recovery will be faster and you will get fresher legs faster. If that sounds appealing, then I think you should read on in this review where we give you an insight into what you can achieve with this amazing invention.
We have had the pleasure of testing a pair of Recovery Boots, and I want to be honest from the start and say that I had heard a lot of good things about such “boots” but for many different reasons had not yet tried a pair. I also admit that I was a bit skeptical about what kind of results you could achieve with such a pair of Recovery Boots.

What is restitution?

Let’s get the facts straight. It should be said that this test was conducted exclusively in connection with sports and training, but as you can read later, Recovery Boots are not just for those who train. But that has been the starting point of our test.
If you are used to training and do it a lot, then you are also familiar with the concept of recovery. In short, it is the process your body starts after training. In short, the process is about building your tissue and muscles back up. You destroy and break them down when you train. That is why it is always important to recover properly. Especially after really hard training sessions where you have really given it the gas. If your tissue, tendons and muscles are so broken down that you do not recover enough, you increase the risk of getting an injury considerably. Recovery is actually so important that if you do not comply with it, your training can be wasted or, in the worst case, deteriorate. When the body builds tissue and muscles back up using its own method, it builds up to be able to handle more the next time. Because you have just broken it down (the body) and it will not tolerate that again. That is why it builds up the muscles stronger. And that is how it happens when you train, recover, train recover, etc. But if you train and train again without letting your body heal itself, you start to break down something that is on the way up, and that is definitely not recommended. That is why recovery is SO IMPORTANT. But now, fortunately, it has become easier with Recovery Boots.

If you need input on refunds, you can read our article about 10 quick to recovery here

Always check your body before exercising.

Even though a set of Recovery Boots has now made it easier to recover in your legs, you shouldn’t just turn off your brain and let technology decide. You can read in our article and many other places online that it is believed that 20 minutes in your Recovery Boots corresponds to up to 48 hours of passive recovery. And your recovery boots help too. But don’t not listen to your body. There can be many factors that come into play..
Use Recovery Boots as a supplement to your recovery, and always listen to your body.

What are Recovery Boots?

It’s basically a pair of very long socks or extra legs that you pull over your own legs, and then you let your Recovery Boots work your muscles, tendons and tissues. You can see a demonstration of how to do it in our video above, but in short, it involves connecting these Recovery Boots to a machine that pumps air into the chambers built into your Recovery Boots.
The more chambers, the better. Recovery Boots are available with 4, 6 or 8 chambers. The more chambers, the more precise the treatment. You reduce the risk of dead spots on the leg when there are several chambers. The machine is connected to each leg via some wires that are connected to each chamber. You set the machine with time and pressure, and then the magic begins. Air is pumped into the respective chambers (based on the program you have chosen) and thereby puts your muscles and tissue under pressure. In the version we have tested from Optima Sport, you can choose from a total of 6 pre-programmed programs. Each program has its own strength. But you can read more about that in one of the later sections.

What happens when I use Recovery Boots?

If you know a little bit about compression technology, you are well on your way to understanding what happens when you use your Recovery Boots.
There are a lot of foreign words such as microcirculation, capillarization and extremities that no ordinary person knows the meaning or message of. That’s why we try to cut it out a little more simply. If you exercise, and if you exercise hard, waste products accumulate in muscles and tendons. You clean them out faster by putting pressure on the muscles and tissues, thereby increasing your blood circulation. When you increase your blood circulation, you also activate the lymphatic system in your body. This is the system that cleans out the waste products. Blood circulation also increases the pace of restoring the normal and natural supply of oxygen and blood in the legs..
This actually also means that if the injury has occurred, and you have, for example, suffered a muscle injury or similar, your Recovery Boots will also be able to help you here. Because the principle is the same. You increase blood circulation and thereby supply the injured area with oxygen and nutrients that it can now use to heal your injury. If you are so unfortunate that it is a sprain or a sprain, Recovery Boots can easily help drain the injured area of the fluid that accumulates in such injuries.

20 minutes in Recovery Boots gives up to 48 hours of recovery

People are different, and therefore the title does not fit everyone. But with a pair of Recovery Boots it is possible to achieve a recovery in just 20 minutes that corresponds to between 20 and 48 hours of passive recovery. And all this is possible from home from the couch (Watch our intro video)

Recovery Boots are not a new phenomenon

Well, that’s what it is in the world of sports for us ordinary mortal exercisers. Recovery Boots have been used for some years in, for example, the professional cycling world (so it’s not just steaks and other juices they ride on). But you have also seen Recovery Boots used in hospitals. There it was mostly with the aim of people with, for example, poor blood circulation being able to get help via the boots. Or as a recovery aid after surgery, so that the healing process was shorter..
But now you see it more and more in regular sports. And if you follow social media in relation to running, you will probably have noticed that triathletes, crossfitters and OCR runners in particular are among the frequent users of Recovery Boots. And they are because it works.

What about active recovery, can I use it?

You can certainly do that, it is of course your own choice. Unfortunately, you see a lot of injuries occur during active recovery. You have to be a master at keeping the low cadence during this type of recovery, and it can be difficult. In many cases, people can’t “stay on the mat” and then you train a little too hard anyway. Because when the body and muscles get warm, you don’t feel the fatigue or the sore muscles, and you keep training. Then it happens that muscles that are already damaged are put under unnecessary pressure, and there is a more than increased risk of things going wrong. You get injured..
Recovery Boots do nothing in that direction. Because if you sit at home on the couch with your boots on, there is no risk of overloading muscles, tendons and tissues in the same way.

Selected advantages and disadvantages

Benefits

Always fresh legs

You will always be able to achieve fresh, or at least fresher legs. When you have a tool like Recovery Boots at your fingertips, and it is SO easy to operate, fresher legs are not far away.

More optimal training

When you recover more easily, you also have a shorter time to train for the next session. This will likely make it easier to train for a race or other event. Your legs will be ready to go again more quickly after a hard session. So instead of 3 sessions in a week, you might want to try to reach 4 sessions (just an example).

The ease

I definitely think it should be seen as a big advantage that it is as easy as it is. 4-5 minutes and then you are starting to recover. It is a lot of money you pay for the boots, and it is a huge advantage for me that it is something I get to use. And it would quickly fade if it now took 15 minutes each time to get ready - before you can start the treatment.

Transport

In contrast to one of the disadvantages, I would like to highlight the travel bag that is included. Because if you need to take your Recovery Boots with you on a trip or to a race, the travel bag that comes with your Recovery Boots from Optimasport.dk is super practical. It is actually possible to pack the boots in the bag with the wires connected, so that all you have to do when you need to use them on a trip or for a race is take it out of the bag and connect the large plug to the machine.

Disadvantages

The price

The price of a pair of Recovery Boots is undeniably a disadvantage. Although we have argued earlier in the article how cheap they were over a 10-year period, 4000,- or more is a lot of money that is difficult to find in the everyday life and budget of many ordinary people.

The storage

Even though there is a smart storage and transport bag for your Recovery Boots, I would almost eat my old hat that if you use them regularly (like a couple of times or three times a week) you won't spend the time packing them into the bag every time. And then they become a little more unhandy to have lying around. And that's even though you can actually pack them into the bag without disconnecting the wires

Many possibilities with Recovery Boots from Optima Sport

Now that a machine is so smart and can do so many things, aren’t they incredibly difficult to control and handle?
No, they actually aren’t. That was one of the things that really surprised me. It doesn’t require anything from you to get started..
Firstly, when you receive your Recovery Boots from Optima Sport 6 preset programs that you can just press and you’re good to go. There’s a nice little folder that will get you started.
But the best part is how easy it is to both assemble for the first time and use afterwards. I would guess it took me a total of 10 minutes to unpack my new Recovery Boots for the first time and until I was up and running. It is very intuitive and easy to use. It is almost impossible to go wrong. You cannot install the large wire that goes from the boots and back to the machine incorrectly, as they are measured to fit in exactly the hole it needs to go in. These holes are also matched with colors. Then you close the wires inside via some strong velcro, then you connect the large wire to the machine, press “play” and you are ready.
In everyday life I am up and running in less than 4 minutes. It must be said that I do not pack them in the bag every time, but simply put the machine down in the transport box and let my legs lie freely next to it. Then when I come from training and want to use my Recovery Boots, I connect everything together, sit on the couch and turn it on. All of this happens in less than 4 minutes. Anyone can figure it out.

Find your own strength at Recovery Boots

Where you might have to spend a little extra time on your Recovery Boots is the different settings. There can be a lot to learn. I can tell you about the first time I tried them in this test, I set the pressure allllllllt too high, and it was almost pure pain as the program was supposed to put pressure on the entire leg, and therefore also the large thigh muscle..
So do yourself a favor and try it out a little. Also in terms of how long you have to spend in the “machine”. I started with 40 minutes, but ended up with a 30-minute treatment giving me the same results. So why not save those 10 minutes in a busy everyday life with children, wife, work and training.

Recovery Boots are much more than sports

Using these amazing boots is not just for those of us who practice some form of sport. It offers opportunities in other directions.

Lymphedema and Recovery Boots

In short, it is a disease where fluid accumulates in your body because your lymphatic system cannot clean and transport the necessary fluid away. Recovery Boots can help you with this.

You can treat restless legs with Recovery Boots

Of course, it can easily be related to sports. But people who do not play sports know what they are talking about when they refer to restless legs or perhaps better known as restless legs. And here Recovery Boots can help create more calm in the legs via increased blood flow.

Recover Boots for arthritis pain

If you are a arthritis patient then you are certainly familiar with the pain and discomfort it causes. It reduces your freedom of movement and in this way you also reduce your activity level. Again it is the increased blood flow, which can be achieved by treatment with Recovery Boots, that comes into play and gives some positive effects.

User opinion about Recovery Boots

Below we have collected user opinions about using Recovery Boots. If your opinion is missing here, you are more than welcome to send it to us.

Michael Bonde, road cyclist and spinning enthusiast

  • After a week where there had been 3 hard spinning classes and then a weekend with 180 km on the bike (first trips on the road this year), my legs were quite tired/sore. The actual use of the machine and legs is very easy, the fact that you just have to plug in a power plug and connect the boots themselves with a single plug is good. The user manual is clear, but if I have to highlight something that is not so good, I think there is a lack of a proper explanation of the 6 programs the machine is preset to. And what pressure to set the machine to. Or for example a link to the website. I tried 2 programs of 30 minutes. First program A which starts from the bottom of the foot and up, ran at MAX pressure and it was quite comfortable, after the 30 minutes I think I could feel that the soreness had eased a lot. To try the Recovery Boots completely, I ran program D also at MAX pressure. It was quite an experience, you have to be prepared to push through and it could feel uncomfortable at times, but the result itself was fantastic, my legs felt completely relieved and "ready" to cycle a long ride again. The soreness from the many km. was mostly gone, and on Tuesday evening when I stopped at spinning I had "good" legs again.–Michael Farmer

Max Bjerge, does crossfit, running and football

  • I have had the pleasure of trying recovery boots. After doing a heavy leg workout with lots of running, deadlifts and squats, I was excited to put on the recovery boots. It was super easy to connect and with a nice instruction manual to choose a program, it was just a matter of time. I did 2 programs. 1 of 20 min and 1 of 10 min. The next day I played a football match and when I got home I did the same 2 programs. I had no doubt that they had a positive effect. My legs were not as heavy as I usually have after a match. So I was ready for another workout with lots of running and heavy lifting the next day.–Max Mountains

Gregers Rasmussen, crossfit, OCR and road racing

  • Sore legs after cross training with intervals and tire push-ups that challenge both fitness and calf muscles. Put on recovery boots and try out the settings. It is quick and easy to get into the boots, and then find a comfortable position to sit in. The settings are quick to get an overview of and after a little testing, it was the program for the whole leg that seemed most comfortable.. The massage is very pleasant and the pressure gives a good feeling that the muscles are being worked through. When the boots are off, you are left with a feeling that your legs are lighter and fresher. .I don't know if the boots directly reduce recovery. My legs weren't any easier to move the next day than after regular recovery without boots. But a clear reduction in DOMS is always nice and makes it easier to climb stairs after a hard leg workout. In addition, it is clear that if there are problem areas, increased soreness or beginning overload, the boots can be set to, for example, only the calf muscles and I think that will definitely benefit the reconstruction and recovery of my muscles, for example, after an injury period or if you experience more soreness here. .–Gregers Rasmussen

Massage cushion, massage gun or Recovery boots?

There are many good alternatives on the market when it comes to optimal recovery after training and sports. I have recently been through a number of different setups, and am therefore also able to provide the advantages and disadvantages that I see for the individual products.

Recovery Boots, there is no doubt about it. This is where I stand with the most relaxing result when I am finished. You just sit there with a feeling that your legs, your muscles and your tissue and tendons have been worked through well, and can breathe again. It is a fantastic feeling. Where a pair of Recovery Boots then in my eyes loses a bit, it is weight and bulk. And by that I mean that there is still a lot of preparation to start using the boots. Is there electricity nearby where you want to use them? I know there are many who take them around because it gives such a good effect, but for me it is a small minus that they are so big and a bit difficult to get started with if you take them to events. (it is a bit different with home use)

The massage gun is flexible and in-depth. We have tested the Flowlife Flowgun which is one of the leaders on the market with a powerful motor, 4 massage heads and up to 5 different massage levels. It can work more deeply with a single or two muscles, which can be really good. Unlike Recovery Boots, after the treatment I don’t sit with the same light feeling with a Flowgun massage gun. But on the other hand I can take my massage gun with me everywhere. It weighs less than a kilo and has a rechargeable lithium battery. This makes it super flexible. Easy to take with you to races, events, at work or just on the couch.

Massage cushions also found there. Among other things, I have had the pleasure of testing Flowlife Flowpillow Heat. And here we are in a form of massage that for me is very specific to the legs and neck. It has the clear advantage that it is not as expensive as the other two, it is easy to carry around. It is both for running, in the car on a skiing holiday, yes, there are no limits to where a massage cushion of that caliber can be used.

Whether you want one or the other, I’m not the one to decide, of course. But it’s important for me to point out that you should think about it before making your choice. Because it’s frustrating to buy the wrong thing and then not use it because it takes up too much space.

Prices for Recovery Boots

Even though Recovery Boots have become extremely hyped and you can find more and more of them for sale to us ordinary people, you can’t help but think that it’s not a cheap pleasure. But you have to remember that it’s a one-time investment, and given what you get, I think in my head it makes sense..
OptimaSport.dk currently has a model for 3499,- A model for just over 4000,- and a model for under 5000,- Depending on how many chambers you are looking for. But considering that you do not have to renew anything, and let us estimate that you can use them for the next 10 years and we are based on an average price of 4000,-. Then it is an investment of 400,- per year, 33,- per month or 1.09,- per day. And it is a relatively cheap method to achieve healthy legs..
Recovery Boots cannot replace a masseuse or a physiotherapist, and do not work as deeply. But by and large the superficial work is the same. And you do not pay many masseuse or physiotherapist bills with 4000,- per year.

3 versions of Recovery Boots

As described in the above section, there are basically 3 versions at the time of writing when you look at Recovery Boots in general. There is a K4, K6 and a K8 (They may have other letters in front, but it is the number that is important.) The numbers on the back indicate how many chambers there are in the boots, and thus how effectively you can recover your legs. The more chambers, the better the effect and the higher the price.
This is also the case with Recovery Boots, price and quality are related. So if you want more options and more effective treatment, you should buy a pair of Recovery Boots with more chambers. For example, if you have a pair of K6 with 6 chambers, this means in practice that your boot has 6 divisions and 6 inputs with air. The more chambers you choose, the more precise the treatment can be, and you minimize the risk of dead spots for the treatment.

At the top of the test you will find the price table for a pair of Recovery Boots with 6 chambers. Below you can find the price of the versions with 4 and 8 chambers respectively.
