En af de løbesko jeg har veret allermest spändt på at teste. Adidas Springblade is radically different from many others and is therefore also extremely exciting to test. I må admit at jeg var meget skeptisk inden jeg modtog dem. Jeg synes honest talt de er lidt grimme og at jeg ikke rihet tror på den der “kænguru hussaan” eller hvad de tryver at vejje den som. Da mine Adidas Springblades ankommer gør jeg mit bedste for at teste dem uden preuddannede meninger. My first experience is ret positiv. Skoene har et komfortablyt og tight fit, som jeg realjskt godt söder med. Skal of course ud at löpe med det samme og beszlutter mig til en rolig löptur rundt i byen. Det er meget märkeligt at løpe med de nye springblades og jeg kan gegen ikke vænne mig til at lande så meget på hælen og blive “skudt” frem. Jeg synes godt at jeg kan märke en ekstra kraft fra skoens Springblades, men primidend kan jeg ikke sig om det er en fordel. My first experience with Adidas Springblade fik mig til at dwybe meget.

Analysis part 1: Who is the shoe aimed at?

Running style

It was a bit difficult to find precise information about exactly which running style the Adidas Springblade is aimed at, but with my experience in running shoes, I would say that it is mainly aimed at the neutral runner. However, I think both overpronating and supinating runners will also be able to run with the Springblade, as the powerful cushioning means that you always get a soft landing.

Fit

The fit is not only incredibly comfortable but also snug. It was easy to find the right size as the Adidas Springblade is true to size. If I wore very thin socks or didn’t tie the laces tightly enough, I could find that my heel had a little too much room. However, this was rare and 99% of the time I was extremely happy with the fit.

Substrate

The Adidas Springblade is definitely for harder surfaces like asphalt and gravel. It is definitely not recommended for running on more slippery and uneven surfaces like trails and forests. There is practically no grip in their Springblade outsole.

Adidas Springblade price

The recommended retail price of the Adidas Springblade is 1695 kr, which is very expensive. Adidas has spent a lot of time developing the shoe and the technology is cutting edge, but it’s still a high price for a pair of running shoes. However, with my price comparator at the top of this Adidas Springblade review, you can almost always find the Springblade on offer or on sale for significantly lower prices than the suggested retail price of the Adidas Springblade in Denmark.

Weight

Weight men: Approximately 371 g in size 42 Women’s weight: Approximately 314 g in size 39 This is a relatively high weight for a pair of running shoes. The high weight is due to the new Springblade technology, which weighs more than a traditional midsole and outsole. However, the high weight should be offset by the extra energy released from the revolutionary Springblades underfoot.

Type of shoe

It’s definitely a crowd training shoe that does best on long, leisurely runs. As a more natural runner, I had a hard time getting used to the very heavy cushioning and being forced to land on my heel. If you are a natural heel runner, I’m sure the shoe will give you a very comfortable run.

Durability

I was a little skeptical beforehand as to whether the 16 springblades would hold the load. whether the 16 springblades would be able to withstand the load, but I’ve had no problems. The spring blades are made of a strong polymer based on the Adiwear technology, which is known for its long durability.

Drop in Adidas Springblade

It has not been possible to find the exact drop and heights of the forefoot and heel. With the revolutionary technology, I don’t know if it makes any sense to talk about drop and height. If there is weight on the spring blades, the running shoe is not very high, when there is no weight, the shoe looks quite high. As mentioned in running style, it’s mainly for heel strikers, which would put the Adidas Springblade in the same category as high drop running shoes.

Analysis part 2: Structure

Adidas Springblade outsole

The most revolutionary and technical part of the Adidas Springblade. Instead of a regular outsole and midsole, Adidas has equipped the shoe with so-called Springblades, which give the shoe what they call “Maximal Energy Return”, in good old-fashioned Danish it means “a powerful kick”. The different springblades are designed precisely for the space they occupy under the running shoe to optimize the kick and power transfer. Whether I think it’s as revolutionary as Adidas makes it out to be, I’m not sure, but it’s certainly comfortable and I was very impressed with the durability, which I was a little skeptical about beforehand. I have not experienced any problems.

Midsole

Adidas Springblade has no traditional midsole, see above instead.

Heel

The heel is where the largest and most powerful spring blades are located. Adidas Springblades are very much aimed at heel strikers and therefore the most powerful spring blades are found in the heel for optimal energy transfer. The rear springblade also has an extra durable and specially designed outsole that provides grip and safety when jumping.

Middle

The specialized midfoot spring blades are designed to efficiently transfer energy from the more powerful spring blades in the heel to the less pronounced spring blades in the forefoot. They act as an intermediary between the powerful cushioning in the heel and the bounce in the forefoot. Around the midfoot, stability and support is provided by the stiffening TPU midfoot cage.

Forefoot

The forefoot is effectively gripped by the extra outsole, and here the 16 spring blades progressively reduce to nothing at the toes, so you can get a powerful strike and utilize the force that has been absorbed in the spring blades during the running motion.

The upper in Adidas Springblade

The upper fits snugly and comfortably. There are no seams or stitching to irritate your foot. With the thin Air Mesh material, you are guaranteed the most optimal ventilation that effectively cools your feet down, even in the summer heat. In contrast to the very special sole, Adidas has chosen to make a very minimal upper in TechFit for the Springblade, which ensures an exceptional upper without weighing much.

And I think it’s on the expensive end, but luckily you can often find Adidas Springblade on offer in Denmark and abroad.
