The absolute royal shoe – Asics Kinsei

You rarely find a running shoe with such good shock absorption and GEL as in the Asics Kinsei 6.

In my opinion, it is the most technologically complicated running shoe on the market.

It is a world-class running shoe.

The shoe is primarily aimed at runners with a tendency to fall outward (supination) or runners who run neutrally.

Price and quality go hand in hand

Asics Kinsei comes with all the latest technology. You will not find any shoe from Asics that is so characterized by technology. If you step into the shoe, you feel from the first moment that it fits your foot as if it were molded. It is an experience you can also get with shoes from other brands, but not nearly to the same extent.

Price and quality are two components that often go together. It’s not something I make up, but a universal principle. Asics Kinsei has a suggested retail price of 1700 Danish kroner. So it can quickly become a relatively large financial item in the private budget to have to buy 4 pairs annually.

Now that we’re talking about price, it must be said that you can often find Asics Kinsei deals. Paying 1800 kroner for a shoe 4 times a year is perhaps a bit much. In detail with the technology

At the bottom of this section you will find an overview of all the technological elements used in the Asics Kinsei 5.

Gel Kinsei 3, 4 and 5 have all had sublime heel shock absorption. If you are a forefoot lander, don’t despair. The new version comes with a total of 4 GEL cushions. It is these GEL elements that make the shoe so indescribably nice and soft. If you compare the 5’s with the 4’s, there is no doubt that great consideration has been made regarding technological changes. For example, the Asics Gel Kinsei 5 has a stretchable mesh across the upper – made in Fluidfit from Asics. Fluidfit is also used in the midsole.

Change in weight

The latest version of the Asics Kinsei has been slightly reduced in weight. This means less weight around your feet and thus higher speed. In other words, you could say that the new version gives you a better chance to run faster. The previous models were a bit too heavy in my opinion – something they have improved upon.

In addition to the weight, two interesting technologies have been added.

The former is part of the midsole and the outer part of the sole. The purpose of the Guidance line is to spread shock around as many muscles as possible. That’s smart! That way you don’t put too much strain on one muscle, but on the entire foot. The result is fewer injuries – and we like that.

The latter is completely new. By using the material Pebax, the Asics Kinsei 5 gives you a lightweight feel that you’ve never experienced before. At the same time, you give your feet a nice, quiet area without seams.

2 significant ones from Asics Kinsei 6

The Asics Kinsei 6 has been given a boost since the last edition (5th edition). In my opinion the 2 main changes are:

• The upper has become more robust, and you will find that it sits a little closer to the foot. Super cool feeling.
• Better heel control. More support and a slightly firmer heel counter

What is the alternative to Asics Gel Kinsei?

This is a question I get asked a lot. There is no direct substitute if you are a supinating runner. You simply won’t find anything like it here. If you are a neutral runner, you have a few other options. If you want to stick with Asics, I would take a look at the top running shoe for neutral runners – Asics Nimbus.

If you want to experiment a bit, you can consider one of my favorites from New Balance, namely the New Balance 1080 – an incredibly popular running shoe.

It must be said that these shoes cannot be directly compared to the Asics Kinsei. Where they are similar is primarily in the running style and partly in the level of technology used – however, the Kinsei wins here in the end.
