New in Asics Gel Noosa Tri 11
The previous models of the running shoe, Asics Gel Noosa Tri 6, Asics Gel Noosa Tri 7 and Asicis Gel Noosa Tri 8 and version 9 have all been extremely popular running shoes.
Not just because of their colorful design, but also for the performance, fit and comfort.
All Asics Noosa Tr models from version 6 to version 9 have been largely similar to each other. There are a few updates that have been made from one version of the Noosa Tri to the next.
Asics Noosa Tri – now in version 11. With the updates that have come in version number 11, I don’t think it will become less popular. The shoe has got some new features that you as a runner will really be able to feel a significant positive difference.
– Upper part update
– Sole update
The upper in the Asics Noosa tri is in version 11, and compared to the Noosa tri 10 has become a lighter, more flexible and seamless upper, which just sits perfectly on and around the foot. Giving you the absolute best running and working conditions. We really think it can be felt and it has given the shoe a lift.
The sole has been upgraded in a way that it has become lighter. They now use Solyte Super, which is an upgrade of the regular Solyte material we know from Asics running shoes. The only small difference is that the Super version is supposed to be about 15% lighter – but with the same effect. So your lightweight running shoes just got even lighter.
Gel Noosa Tri 11 has a large gel cushion in the heel, and the heel cap is unique in the sense that it supports perfectly, but is also easy and elastic when you need to get in and out of the running shoe (Tri)
Asics Noosa Tri 11 is a specialized triathlon running shoes with specific features that make it extremely suitable for triathlon and as a competition running shoe. Below you will get an in-depth review of the lightweight race running shoe Asics Gel Noosa Tri 11.

Asics Noosa Tri test
First impressions of the Asics Gel Noosa Tri
I’ve been really excited to test and review the Asics Noosa Tri. Although I enjoy cycling, I can’t really call myself a triathlete, and I certainly don’t competitive triathlon. Despite that, I think I can review the Gel Noosa Tri as a running shoe. So there will probably be less focus on the shoe’s triathlon features and more on its running performance.
A review starts the moment you open the shoe box and here it was an extreme pleasure to unpack the Asics Gel Noosa Tri. The colorful design really makes you a good pair of running shoes and I’m excited to get out and test them out on the roads. If nothing else, I can get a lot of envious looks.
It’s time for a tough 12km tempo ride, so the Asics Gel Noosa Tri is being introduced in style. I was a little nervous as I had read that the shoe could be a bit tight around the forefoot, but I don’t experience that at all. Instead, I enjoy the Gel Noosa Tri’s tight but comfortable fit and the shoe’s low weight, which helped me get my heart rate right into the red zone.
After 500 km of running training and competitions
Since my first run I have run about 500 km in the Asics Gel Noosa Tri. Mostly training km, but there has also been room for competition km, and I must admit that it has been a positive experience running in the Gel Noosa Tri. I have had some issues with the tongue being a bit annoying if I haven’t made sure to tie the shoe tightly and properly. However, it is not a bigger problem than I just have to remind myself of it every time before I run out the door.
Running in the Noosa Tri is a pleasure though. For a shoe designed to provide support for longer runs and competitions, it is really light, which I feel makes a big difference on my longer runs (+21 km). It is not as light as some of the lightweight running shoes I have run in before, so for intervals and shorter tempo runs, the weight difference is not as noticeable. I have been really happy with the Asics Gel Noosa Tri and actually enjoy its triathlon features, which make it easy to get the shoe on and off, so I can easily recommend the running shoe to other runners.

Choosing shoe size
Asics Noosa Tri has a regular and standard running shoe size. It is no problem to find the right size Asics Noosa Tri, as you can safely use the size from your old running shoe to find the right size in Noosa Tri. However, be aware that it may feel a bit narrow in the forefoot, where the volume is on the lower end.
Men’s sizes: 40 – 51
Women’s sizes: 35 – 46
Below you can see how other runners have rated the size of the Asics Gel Noosa Tri.

You should buy the Asics Gel Noosa Tri if…
- you are looking for a competition running shoe for triathlon
- you need the triathlon specific features
- you are looking for a brightly colored running shoe
- you need a lightweight running shoe
- you are moderately pronated
Analysis part 1: Who is the shoe aimed at?
Running style
The Asics Noosa Tri is primarily aimed at the neutral or moderately pronating runner. It is a competition running shoes which is characterized by its relatively low weight and aggressive heel drop. In triathlon, you mainly run longer distances, which is why the weight has not been reduced further, as the shoe must be able to handle the long distances and many km.
Fit
Basically, the shoe is very normal in its fit, there are no areas that you should pay extra attention to. If you have a wide forefoot, you may however experience some problems with the Asics Noosa Tri, which has medium to low volume in the forefoot. Apart from this, the Noosa Tri is normal in its fit and size. That was also what I personally experienced.
- Heel: Medium
- Midfoot: Medium to low volume
- Forefoot: Medium
- Toe height: Medium to low
- Arch structure: Medium
- Shoe shape: Semi-curved
In fine clothes
Designed and manufactured for running on mainly harder surfaces, such as asphalt and gravel. Its outsole, although not rough, is rough enough to handle some slightly more demanding paths and trails.
Price level
The recommended Asics Noosa Tri price is 1100 kr, which is on the reasonable end without being really cheap. On the other hand, there is good competition on the market for the shoe, which means that you can often, if not always, find Asics Noosa Tri on offer or sale. To make it easy for you, I have collected the market’s best prices on Noosa Tri, so you can always choose the cheapest webshop to buy Asics Noosa Tri.
Weight
Men’s weight: 265 grams in size 42
Women’s weight: 229 grams in size 39
The Asics Noosa Tri’s weight is in what I would describe as the mid-range for running shoes, but when you consider that the shoe is aimed at longer distances and greater volume, it is suddenly a very light running shoe.
Type of shoe
Asics describes the Noosa Tri as a running shoe for the ambitious triathlete who wants a lighter competition shoe. The shoe is lightweight and focused on performance and is designed for the longer distances of triathlon, making it able to handle many kilometers and high volume compared to more traditional competition running shoes.
Durability
Since the Noosa Tri is intended and designed for longer distances, the durability is long. Both in the outsole and on the upper, which can withstand the wear and tear of running many km on mainly hard surfaces. The upper is quick-drying so that there is no extra wear on the shoe when it is damp or downright soaked.
Drop
Both the Asics Gel Noosa Tri for men and women have a relatively aggressive drop of just 10 mm, which is somewhere between the drop in a traditional running shoe and a natural running shoe. The low drop gives you a more forward-leaning running style, where you will land more on the midfoot and forefoot. This gives you a more dynamic and faster run. Perfect for race days when you need to run as fast as possible.
Analysis part 2: Structure
Outsole
Made from a special blend of organic and non-organic components, the outsole is designed to improve grip on wet surfaces. The durable outsole does not wear out easily and can withstand high training and mileage.
Midsole
The midsole is made of Asics’ new Solyte material and technology, which provides better energy transfer from landing to takeoff than their previous midsoles. A small detail that makes the new Asics Noosa Tri a little better than previous models.
Heel
This is where the magic happens! In the heel sits the highly respected Gel-zone which provides comfortable and responsive shock absorption, making the shoe comfortable on longer runs. It is also in the heel that the Asics I.G.S (Impact Guidance System) begins, which supports and guides your foot for the most efficient landing and take-off.
Middle
The Noosa Tri features Asics Dynamic DuoMax Support system, which provides support around the midfoot and ensures that energy transfer from landing to take-off is optimal. This support system provides support all the way through to the last part of the take-off to counteract your overpronation.
Forefoot
The shoe also features a Gel zone in the forefoot, which provides responsive cushioning and a powerful push-off. As mentioned above, the pronation support also works all the way to the tip of the foot and the push-off.
Upper part
This is where you will notice the biggest difference in the triathlon-specific running shoe. The Asics Noosa Tri has laces that are extra elastic, so you can quickly and easily get the shoe on correctly. The quick-drying mesh upper provides really good comfort, even if you run without socks, which is probably mostly ensured by the seamless construction. This means you get an upper that doesn’t weigh much and doesn’t have any irritation points.
Differences in women’s and men’s Noosa Tri
Asics Noosa Tri men’s running shoes
This review is based on Asics Noos Tri men’s running shoe, so everything I write is based on and refers to the men’s model. A versatile running shoe that has many fans around the world, both as a triathlon running shoe and a regular running shoe.
Asics Noosa Tri women’s running shoes
The women’s version of the Asics Noosa Tri running shoe is basically the same running shoe. There are some common differences between men’s and women’s running shoes, which I will go over below. In general, however, it is the same running shoe as the men’s model that has been reviewed here. The women’s model naturally has some more feminine color choices and combinations.
Difference in Asics Noosa Tri for men and women
Men’s running shoes usually have a little more cushioning to cope with the higher weight of men, this also applies to the Asics Noosa Tri, although not as pronounced as seen in other running shoes. The Noosa Tri for women is also a bit narrower in its fit, because women often have narrower feet. Therefore, you can’t just blindly choose a model for the opposite sex, even if you like the design better.

Other Asics Noosa models
Asics Noosafast
A more trimmed and specialized version of the Noosa Tri. The Asics Noosafast is designed for shorter triathlon and running distances, which means it is even more scraped and trimmed. That’s why the Asics Noosafast also weighs in at just 168 grams and has a drop of just 6 mm. It is a distinct competition running shoe for the sprint distances in triathlon. On the short distances there is no time to take socks off and on and the Asics Noosafast has specific design features that make them comfortable to run in without socks. An effective anti-slip system gives you a secure fit in the minimalist running shoe. Noosafast race running shoes for shorter distances, where the Noosa Tri is mainly for longer distances.
Comparison
There are several running shoes that are similar to the Asics Noosa Tri and its race performance over longer distances. If you are a supinating runner and want a running shoe for the longer distances, you can take a look at the colorful Adidas Supernova Glide or the premium running shoe NB 1080. If you are a pronator or neutral runner, the segment that the Gel Noosa Tri is also aimed at, I would recommend looking at den flotte Nike Lunareclipsethe beautiful Nike Lunar Eclipse or one of thethree Asics GT running shoes.
Summary
The Asics Gel Noosa Tri is a specialized triathlon running shoe, but don’t let that put you off if you like the design and are looking for a lightweight running shoe for competitions and training over longer distances. As you can read in my review of the Asics Gel Noosa Tri, it’s a great running shoe that can easily be used by pure runners and not just triathletes. And the design and colors are just super sharp!
