Brooks Ghost 7 – a world of difference

The Ghost model from Brooks is a mass training shoe. You need the shoe for the many quiet kilometers – and here it is strong. The shock absorption is wonderful. If you are going out for your first marathon, it is also a running shoe that I would like to recommend to you. It has generally received good reviews across the board. It is a shoe that provides good support during the many kilometers.

With its weight of 320 grams and a drop of around 11 mm, you are guaranteed the necessary shock absorption. The shoe is designed to ensure that you run with a heel landing. There is a Brooks Ghost for men and of course there is also a Brooks Ghost for women for such a popular model. Buy Brooks Ghost online on offer or sale and save money.

A few words about the technique

The Ghost running shoe is among the most successful from Brooks – hence its popularity. It wins awards due to the positive feedback from runners. However, at least as important is that there is actually something technical behind the shoe that works. There is no point in selling a shoe in the hope that it is good. This can result in injuries.

You get the Anatomical DNA cushioning technology in the neutral running shoe. It is a unique cushioning system made only for Brooks running shoes. It gives you the optimal cushioning based on speed and weight, for example. If you are a light runner, the material does not give much. If you are heavy, the material is fully utilized.

In addition, the shoe comes with Omega Flex Grooves. This technology makes the shoe more flexible. Flexibility can be good and bad. Heavy running shoes are typically a bit stiff. That’s not the case with the Ghost shoe, which with this technology gives you a softer roll over your foot – all the way from heel to toe.

Other important techniques are Profile Sockliner and Profile Element – this is the part that gives you the great comfort and ventilation. Last but not least, they have chosen to use DRB Accel as midfoot support to protect you from tendon injuries and the like, which can otherwise be a bigger problem among runners.

What is it like to run in the Brooks Ghost?

Brooks Ghost fits tightly and compactly around the foot. It gives you the support you need, but also mobility of the entire foot. Personally, I have normal width feet, and the shoe fits really well in width. I have used the shoe on everything from short, calm runs to long tempo runs. However, I would not recommend the shoe for interval training – you should probably go for shoes like Adidas AdiZero Tempo or Asics Racer. Those shoes are definitely competition running shoes.

If you have an extra wide foot, you can get the Brooks Ghost 7 in 2E. The same applies if you have an extra narrow foot, it is available in width B (for men). For women, you must have fingers in width A for narrow feet and width D for wide feet. If nothing is specified, you can assume that the store sells the shoes in normal width. You can read what others think about Ghost on Brooks’ website.

That’s what I think about the shock absorption

As mentioned, Brooks has used Brooks Anatomical DNA cushioning. It is a material that is a mixture of foam and gel. It can be compared to Asics’ traditional GEL. The shock absorption in the heel is quite compact – ready to absorb shock. This is especially appreciated on longer runs, where the legs become exhausted and the running style may not be as good as it should be.

The anatomical DNA of the forefoot is a little softer. This allows you to get a faster push-off and thus higher speed. I recommend you use Brooks Ghost as a mass training shoe for asphalt, gravel and other hard surfaces. Why here? Because it has good shock absorption. For softer surfaces, other shoes are better.
