Inov8 Oroc 280 – winter running shoe no. 1

The shoe is incredibly light (280 grams), there is a firm footing and the shoe is breathable, so that your feet can naturally regulate their temperature. If your feet have a very high or very low temperature, your performance will be impaired. The center of gravity in the Inov8 Oroc 280 is placed very low with a low wedge and a small drop from heel to toe. Watch my video or find your preferred retailer

With iron spikes, the Oroc 280 from Inov8 is the optimal choice for slippery surfaces. The shoe breaks ice, snow, water, slush and wet rocks without any problems, giving you a good grip and a quick start.

It is a typical winter running shoe. The fit is quite performance based. This means that the shoe fits tightly around your foot. This increases your possibilities for fast accelerations, sprints and heavy braking, which is ideal for a good winter running shoe for the muddy, slushy and icy surfaces.

Specification of the super good running shoe with iron spikes

The sole is the well-known Oroc, and the sizes range from EU 37 to EU 47, so both people with small and large sizes have the opportunity to get a good winter running shoe. There is also a 6mm drop and the materials are synthetic. A 6mm drop is ideal for cross-country running of various kinds in my opinion. When you train in muddy, slushy or icy conditions, it is not super important to have strong shock absorption. It is more important that you can get a good start with the shoe – and you can do that with the Inov8 Oroc 280.

The shoe is used all over the world for the various special races that exist around the world. For example, read a short report from Inov 8 even though the trip in Oroc 280.

The Inov Oroc 280 has only been released in one color so far. With its popularity as a perfect winter running shoe, other color options are sure to follow, although the lime/black version is really cool.

Personal experiences with Inov8 Oroc 280

In Denmark, winter can be tough at times. When the entire landscape is covered in snow, you also lose a little motivation to go out for a run. Turn it all upside down with Oroc. You’ll want it to snow. You’ll want mud.

Since I first trained in the off-road shoe, I’ve been looking forward to the next time I have the opportunity. Fighting through the harsh conditions is just something for me.

How are the spikes? Can the shoe ONLY be used for snow/ice?

2 questions I often get. Let me start from the back. The shoe should NOT be used on the following surfaces (not at all):

  • Asphalt
  • Concrete
  • Hard gravel paths

On the other hand, it should be used as much as possible for:

  • Is
  • Snow
  • Mud
  • Slush

This also means that you MUST NOT run on snow/ice. You can also use the Inov8 Oroc 280 on the muddier routes.

The spikes are made of iron. Iron and asphalt do not go well together. If you know that there are hard and compact surfaces on your route, I would recommend that you walk very carefully over these. If you run on asphalt for just a few hundred meters with the shoes, you risk damaging the spikes.

All in all, a very strong winter running shoe. It is a niche running shoe that has its own specialty, and you can therefore only use it on days when the weather is not too summery. Conversely, when you have them on and the weather is right, it is among the world’s best running shoes for the purpose.
