If you ask us, there isn’t much difference between the 8th version and the 9th version of this lightweight running shoe from Nike. They are incredibly similar to each other, and we had to look far for major updates. But that says something completely different about the shoe. Namely, that it is a running shoe that in its current version solves the task..
The 8mm drop still gives the runner a unique feeling of pace and momentum. The low weight is of course also maintained, and it gives you plenty of comfort. In fact, still so much so that you almost don’t notice you’re wearing the shoe.

The shoe’s upper has been updated slightly in its structure. But of course it still contains Flywire cables for support around the foot, and the material is still the nice and thin mesh upper..
The Zoom cushioning in the forefoot is still there. It would also be really stupid to remove this, as it is kind of part of the shoe’s identity. It’s a unique feeling to run on this Zoom Air cushioning. And it gives you lots of propulsion and power.

What was new in the Nike Elite Zoom 8

The shoe is still a lightweight running shoe – this running shoe weighs only 261 grams in a size 42 for men. Nike has supposedly still stuck to a super flexible training running shoe, with a flexible design that many runners really like. Model number 8 has been updated in that the forefoot has been improved – you will seem to be able to feel that the air cushioning that is placed in the forefoot has become a little faster and more aggressive. This is also why the Nike Zoom Elite 8 is very suitable for runners who primarily land on the midfoot and or forefoot.

For example, if you are used to running in Nike Air Pegasus, then you can easily choose Zoom Elite as the combination running shoes. The Nike Zoom Elite is a lightweight shoe that is mainly designed for training, but due to its low weight it can also be used for competition. As a competition shoe, however, you should be aware that the Nike Zoom Elite is mainly aimed at lighter runners, as the shock absorption is not sufficient for larger and heavier runners. The shoe has Zoom Air in two hardnesses along the entire length of the foot. This provides a powerful push-off and secure control of the foot.

Benefits

The heel cap

It's obviously a matter of taste and very individual. But I think the heel cap on the Nike Zoom Elite somehow surprises me a lot. It has great control over my foot and my gait, and I haven't had any discomfort from the heel area yet.

Breathability

The fact that your feet feel good inside the shoe is an understatement. But I don't think you should think about that much more if you run in the Nike Zoom Elite. The soft and thin mesh upper ensures that you can breathe and get rid of a lot of heat from your feet.

The ease

Now it's a lightweight running shoe, so it would be almost a shame not to mention this as an advantage. But only because it's an advantage. I don't think you notice you're wearing shoes when you run in the Zoom Elite shoe. A paltry 225 grams for a size 43, and with so much support and stability in the shoe. Well done Nike.

The price

It's cheap. That's easy to say. But cheap quickly gets a negative connotation that way, and that's definitely not the intention. But with a suggested retail price of 980,- I personally think you get a lot of running shoes for your money.

Shoelaces

I personally have had a bit of trouble with the laces in the Nike Zoom Elite. I find they have a annoying tendency to come undone because they are too slippery. It is a bit of an annoyance to have to stop to re-lace your shoes.

Durability

That's one of the things you have to consider when choosing a lightweight running shoe like the Nike Zoom Elite. When you cut weight, the shoe also becomes less durable. And when you feel the upper of the shoe, you will immediately agree with me that it feels a little fragile. But it won't be a problem if you stick to the rules and only run on the road in the shoe.

The tongue

I think the tongue (the one under the laces) is a bit fussy. It slides around a bit under the laces, and it can be a bit distracting. And a bit annoying that you have to constantly think about whether it is set properly.

In typical Nike fashion, the shoe is packed with modern technology to give you a superior running experience. Both in terms of speed and comfort.
