Why you should choose Salomon running shoes

Salomon has a different approach to their products than many others.

They don’t want to make mainstream traditional products. Instead, they want to make unique products that are for the running specialist.

Salomon running shoes are technically very complex and are extremely competitive in the off-trail category, where they compete against trail brand Inov8.

The two brands are similar in many ways. Salomon is a larger brand, which has great advantages. Their cross is among the most popular product lines for runners who want to go into the forest, on the mountains and through water. Really cool running shoes for the discerning runners. Salomon running shoes stand out from the crowd to such an extent. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. The disadvantage is that some of Salomon’s shoe models have become fifty-fifty running shoes and leisure shoes. And I see that as a small disadvantage.

The story behind Solomon

Salomon has been around for quite a while. Since the year 1947, Salomon has existed. Salomon actually started out making and being interested primarily in skiing in the French Alps. And let’s just say that Salomon is a French brand, so it was very natural that the great outdoor adventure started in the French Alps when skiing was their first great passion. And now this part will be about running shoes and their fantastic approach to manufacturing trail running shoes, but to get the story in place a little, Salomon developed the first self-releasing ski binding (heel release) in 1966, and from there they have been a solid player in the international and national ski market..
1979 was the year they launched their ski boots on the market, and perhaps that’s where their great passion for functional footwear began.1979 was the year they launched their ski boots on the market, and perhaps that’s where their great passion for functional footwear began..
So when the company reached 1992, the first hiking shoes were on their way out of the production halls, and from that year they hardly looked back. The first (and perhaps the most famous shoe from Salomon, the XA shoe, first hit consumers in 2001. And from that year, Salomon has manufactured and optimized their trail running shoes to such an extent that they are now a hugely recognized brand within trail running shoes worldwide. We all know their Speedcross, XA Pro and S-lab series. And many more cool productions are definitely on the way.

The whole philosophy behind Salomon is to give consumers the best opportunities to “play” and or practice their sport while connecting with nature. They are constantly trying to develop gear that adapts to the needs of the consumer, so that they always have the best conditions.

Salomon’s trail running giants

Salomon running shoes may not be the ones you see most often on the shelves of regular sports stores and regular webshops here in Denmark. But if you move around in the world of trail running, you have certainly come across Salomon running shoes. Because they play a significant role there. There can be many good reasons for that, and we will not list them all here, but the primary reason is that what they produce is world class. Top quality every time. But another distinct reason for that is that the 3 series of trail running shoes that pull a big load.
You probably already know them and have heard of them before.

Salomon XA series:
The tough dog in the company. When talking about the XA series in Denmark, it is mainly the XA pro shoe that comes to mind. And calling it a trail running shoe would probably be wrong. Or at least it is not a full-blooded trail running shoe. In fact, the Salomon XA Pro is used as a trail and mountain running shoe in mountainous environments. It does so precisely because it is the tough dog in the company. It has a rough upper and extra good protection for the toes..
Here in Denmark, XA pro is also known for being a shoe that many tradesmen choose when looking for an alternative to safety shoes. And that’s because it is extremely durable, has a rough construction and is also really good on the feet.

Salomon Speedcross series:
The most colorful of the 3 series. And a series that covers both the trail running and fashion shoe segments. You have certainly come across the classic Salomon Speedcross in the city. For many years, it has been primarily sold as a fashion shoe. Or to put it another way, most pairs were sold as fashion shoes, even though Salomon would very much like to sell it as a trail running shoe..
After some fantastic updates to the Speedcross series, Salomon has finally turned the shoe around so that it has become even more interesting for a trail runner.

Salomon S-lab series:
The S-lab series from Salomon has always been their top series. Understood in the sense that this is where the more expensive shoes with the most technology are located. It is always in the S-lab series that their new initiatives on the market are presented. Of course, only if the shoe (or clothing) is built according to the s-lab technology. Because S-lab from Saomon is not just a phenomenon for footwear, it results in a whole series of footwear, clothing and various accessories.

They have also tried their hand at making running shoes for regular road running, but haven’t quite cracked the code yet. If I have to give them credit in that regard, they have in the last few years (at the time of writing, September 2017) produced a pair of great combination running shoes where you, as a runner, can run both on trail and on slightly harder surfaces. An example of such a trail/road running shoe could beSalomon S-lab Sonic

Own experiences

Let me make it very short. I am a big fan of Salomon and am gradually trying to run more trail running. In my personal opinion, it is many times more fun, healthier and more challenging than traditional asphalt running. There is also a very strong increasing trend for people to move outside the paved roads and try new routes. Personally, I love to throw away the watch at home, put on a pair of cross shoes and just mill away without thinking about time, energy consumption or distance. Salomon shoes allow for lots of challenges, and I know I can trust them. They always produce running and trail shoes of the highest quality.

What can Solomon do that others can’t?

Solomon Islands

Salomon is the leader in trail running. Their shoes, backpacks and clothing are not the best fit for the traditional Danish runner who only trains on asphalt. If you are an asphalt runner, I would recommend you look at the more traditional brands. Examples could be Asics, Nike or Adidas.

If you are an adventurous runner who likes to run in forests, on small trails, through mud holes or on mountains, then Salomon should be in your considerations.

Salomon is French. In cross-country running, they have actually specialized further by being experts in cross-country shoes for winter running. On this page you will find their most popular products for winter training, but also trail shoes for the muddy trails of summer. I have no doubt that there will be at least 1 pair of shoes you will fall in love with. But wait a minute, there will be more. Because Salomon running shoes are just cool, it’s not that long ago.
