With Salomon XT Wings on your feet and a complicated trail terrain ahead, you can be sure that you will get home safely. Salomon XT Wings is undoubtedly Salomon’s most advanced trail running shoe, optimized for gravel runs and looser surfaces, such as grass and muddy paths and streams.

You can easily use the Salomon XT Wings on asphalt stretches – that’s no problem. The shoe has a nice comfort that rarely causes pain when you train. In many ways, the Salomon XT Wings can be compared to the Salomon Speedcross or Salomon XA Pro, but it must be recognized that this trail shoe is a series above most other trail running shoes.

Who is this shoe for?

There is no doubt that the latest version of the Salmon XT Wings has been greatly improved for the slightly more uneven terrain. The shoe can be used as an all-round trail shoe with good shock absorption and comfortable support. Salomon themselves call it a lightweight – a statement I strongly disagree with. 380 grams for a pair of trail running shoes is a lot. If you compare it to the heavy running shoes from Inov8,they rarely weigh more than 300 grams. I would prefer lightweight running shoes, but if you want to be on the safe side, here you will find a running shoe that has the whole package.

Technological perspective on Salomon Wings

A quick look at the Salomon XT Wings quickly reveals that we are dealing with a very technological running shoe. For better or worse. I personally love running shoes where there is attention to detail. Conversely, I quickly get tired of unimportant details. It therefore depends a lot on my type of training, which shoes I am looking for.

Salomon XT Wings come with Contagrip. It gives you incredible grip and traction when running on uneven terrain and wet rocks. If you run a lot in areas with large rocks, such as mountain running, you will love the XT Wings. You get a protection at the front of the shoe that prevents you from hurting your feet if you make a mistake.

The trail shoe from Salomon has a small pronation wedge. This gives you a stable running style. However, running style in the traditional sense is not something you should worry too much about when you are training in the soft and unpredictable terrain of the forest.
