Saucony Ride becomes Saucony Ride ISO
For many seasons, we have been used to the version number of Saucony increasing when Saucony Ride got its annual or semi-annual update. But that should not be the case anymore. Or, there will definitely be a version number next time. But going forward, we will have to adapt to the fact that the shoe is now called Saucony Ride ISO. A bit like Saucony has changed their Triumph model to ISO, and their new models (for example Saucony Freedom ISO) are called that.
The entire basic foundation of the shoe is pretty much the same. We are still dealing with a running shoe for the neutral runner. The Saucony Ride still has an 8mm drop.
Let’s take a look at how the Saucony Ride ISO stands out from its predecessor, the Saucony Ride 10. Or maybe we should say version 9. The Saucony Ride 10 implemented the Everun midsole, and of course it’s still there in the Saucony Ride ISO. This elegant, lightweight and super responsive midsole is wonderful to run on.
The ISO abbreviation on the shoe in the Saucony Ride indicates that the upper is now made with ISO-fit. A material over your instep that makes the upper even more unique and with an even better fit. Yes, it can be done. Saucony has always been known for their great approach to creating running shoes with high comfort. In my eyes, for several years they have been a “Mini-Asics” And by that I mean this foam-soft-sock-like-I-sit-well-on-your-feet-like approach to it. Saucony has also been really good at that.
Saucony Ride ISO also has FlexFilm in the upper which is used for unique support around your foot. FlexFilm keeps the foot in place, and it does so with minimal weight. A really good move and a good feature. The Tri-Flex outsole is good on a lot of surfaces, and it is just, as the name might indicate, super flexible. You don’t feel it when you run.
What was new in the Saucony Ride 10
Saucony Ride has always been, as you may already be familiar with, a neutral running shoe for those who wanted a running shoe for many kilometers. The so-called volume training.
Now the switch from Saucony Ride 9 to Saucony Ride 10 has been made, and what does that mean for you as a runner?
You can look forward to a much better upper. The entire upper in the Saucony Ride 10 has been overhauled and updated, so that you as a runner will now experience a very light and extremely breathable upper. This increases comfort significantly. The upper is also now made without potentially annoying seams, and the support that should be there is still there. You will experience that the Saucony Ride 10 gives you a closer fit around the foot, and thus your foot becomes more one with the shoe.
More room for your toes. If you have had the feeling in one of the previous Ride models from Saucony that your toes had a slight tendency to get pinched, then this part should also be in place now. Saucony Ride 10 is equipped with better room for your toes.
The heel of the Saucony Ride 10 gives the ultimate. You experience a heel section that has just the right amount of foam and padding, so that it feels both wonderfully soft, but at the same time you have the feeling of just the right amount of support around the heel/foot.
The Saucony Ride 10 has an 8mm drop and a soft Everum midsole throughout the shoe. The Saucony Ride 10 is sure to be just as successful as its predecessor, the Ride 9, if you ask us. And we might be a little eager for it to be even better, because there are some really nice updates in version 10..
A nice little detail about the Saucony Ride 10 is that it comes with flat laces. This significantly reduces the risk of the laces coming undone during your run.
What was new in the Saucony Ride 9?
Saucony Ride is a neutral running shoe that is gaining more and more market share in the Danish running market.
This 9th edition has received some really nice updates compared to its predecessor Saucony Ride 8.
The most spectacular thing about the Ride 9 is that the entire length of the foot has now become Everrun. Everrun is the new optimized cushioning from Saucony, which gives you a completely unique experience when you run. It replaces the Powergrid cushioning that was in the Saucony Ride 8.
The weight of the shoe has also been reduced a little. It has become a few grams lighter, and that naturally gives you a faster run. 2 grams is not a lot, but a little is also right. Better lighter than heavier.
In addition to incorporating new features into the shoe, Saucony has also updated and improved some of the existing features to ensure a more responsive and comfortable running experience.
For those who want more agility and a responsive feel, the Saucony Ride 9 has something for you.
The shoe has the smart Flexfilm upper that gives the runner who uses the Saucony Ride 8 an absolutely fantastic fit, and a smooth feeling around the foot. A fit that has already been praised by many has just gotten even better. We almost want to shout hurray.

Another new feature is the improved forefoot. This gives the shoe a better platform for a powerful take-off. At the same time, the shoe supports the forefoot at the critical moment when all your power is transferred to the asphalt. This makes running easier, as it forces your foot up as you run.
With the new technologies, you will have a more comfortable and easier run with the Saucony Ride 8. In addition to the new technologies that I have described above, they have also updated the existing technologies. Among other things, they have updated their PowerGrid, which helps stabilize your foot and absorb stress from the repeated impacts on the asphalt. Saucony Ride is another exciting creation from Saucony, which will help many neutral runners.
My test and review of the Saucony Ride
After running with the Saucony Ride, I can honestly say that it has been super comfortable. Both in the heel and forefoot there is effective shock absorption, which is the primary reason why my run has been comfortable and safe. I have also found that the shoe is extremely durable. During my test period, I constantly kept an eye on whether the shoe was worn out or broke in the wrong places. I have not experienced that at all. It is one of the absolute best shoes that I have tried, and I have tried many. The Saucony Ride provides a responsive run, something I have not experienced in many other running shoes. I am very happy to have received the shoe, so that I have been able to experience the excellent performance.
First impressions
My first impressions of the Saucony Ride are that it is a light, durable and comfortable running shoe. Among other things, I noticed that the neutral running shoe only weighs about 269 grams. Compared to other similar running shoes, you get a lot of comfort through the shock-absorbing heel and forefoot, even on long runs. One of the reasons why the Saucony Ride is more durable is that its outsole provides 20% more contact with the ground. Running with a running shoe that has everything you need gives you a fantastic and stress-free running experience.
Saucony Ride impresses me, although there are many running shoes that are also light and comfortable, it is its durability that sets it apart from the crowd. Other running shoes that are durable and light have often sacrificed comfort, making your run feel awkward or uncomfortable. With Saucony Ride, everything is balanced, which I personally have really appreciated.

After 120 km
I usually run at least 30-70 kilometers a week. Sometimes when I’m preparing for a big race I exceed that number. I’ve been running in Saucony Ride for a few months now. The good news is that I’m not close to having to replace the shoe. Due to the strong durability, it’s not necessary for me to replace the shoe yet. The shoe has SSL EVA in the midsole. SSL EVA is Saucony’s premier material for extending durability. In addition, the shoe has an XT-900 outsole, which improves grip on the surface without compromising the durability of the shoe.

Some runners prefer to replace their running shoes after 400 km to ensure their running gear is in tip-top condition. This is very understandable because in running it is very important to have functioning gear to avoid injuries. However, I am of the opinion that most shoes can easily handle +700 km.

Saucony Ride price
The price of Saucony Ride is somewhere between 750 and 1000 DKK. Compared to other running shoes, with Saucony Ride you get a lot of running shoes for the money with all its high-tech features and technologies.
Running style
Saucony Ride is perfect for neutral runners. When it comes to pronation control, Saucony Ride is perfect for runners with moderate pronation. In fact, moderately pronating runners can use any type of running shoe. But it is of course better to use the right and specialized running shoes that provide optimal comfort and support.

Terrain
Saucony Ride can be used on hard and flat terrain such as the road. Please note that the shoe does not have the features and outsole required for trail running, which means that we cannot recommend using the shoe for the same. However, you can use the shoe on surfaces such as gravel. You don’t have to worry about rain, as the shoe’s XT-900 outsole provides strong grip on hard surfaces. So there are no more excuses not to get out and run, even when it’s raining.
Use
Saucony Ride is designed for daily training and high mileage. You will have a good experience with long distances due to the comfort of the shoe and the fit that keeps the foot securely in place. I have talked to other runners who have used Saucony Ride, and they have also experienced the performance of the shoe has been top notch. You will break before the shoe does.
Durability
When it comes to durability, this shoe is in a class of its own. The Saucony Ride has several features that ensure the quality and durability of the shoe. SSL EVA in the midsole provides effective shock absorption without compromising on strength and thus durability.
Size and fit in Saucony Ride
When it comes to sizing, you don’t have to guess too much. The Saucony Ride is true-to-size, so you can just choose your regular size and the shoe will fit that foot perfectly. With the shoe’s redesigned upper with fewer overlaps and seams, the fit has become even better. In addition, the shoe also has ComfortLite Sockliner that supports the foot at critical points and ensures a tight fit without pressure points.
Weight
For both men and women, the Saucony Ride falls into the lightweight category. The men’s version weighs 269 grams, while the women’s version weighs 232 grams. Due to the shoe’s low weight, long-distance running becomes a breeze. You will have an excellent running experience without getting tired of wearing the shoe.
Heel height
The heel height of the Saucony Ride for men is 3.27 cm and the women’s version is 3.34 cm. The comfortable heel helps make running more enjoyable and at the same time helps prevent foot fatigue.

Forefoot height
The forefoot height in the men’s version is 2.4 cm and is almost identical in the women’s model, where the height is 2.46 cm. It is important to have a certain height in the forefoot to provide comfort over longer distances to avoid pain in the forefoot.
Heel-to-toe drop in the Saucony Ride
As you can see from the two subsections above, the heel-to-toe drop in the Saucony Ride is approximately 8 mm. Which is on the lower end. You should therefore be aware that you have control over your running style and are used to running in flatter shoes.
Shoe construction
Outsole
The outsole of the Saucony Ride is made of XT-900, which is a carbon rubber material. It has been used primarily in the heel to increase the shoe’s grip without compromising the durability of the shoe. With the improved grip, there is less chance of slipping, even if the surface is slippery.

In addition, the outsole has iBR+, which is located in the forefoot. The lightweight and flexible material provides a responsive ride and effective shock absorption. This also contributes to the overall comfort of the shoe.
Midsole
The midsole of the Saucony Ride features features that improve the durability and flexibility of the shoe. SSL EVA (Saucony Super Light EVA) is Saucony’s leading midsole material and ensures low weight, comfort, durability and responsiveness. All runners will experience an effective shock-absorbing midsole. In the forefoot, the shoe has a Vertical Flex Groove, which increases forefoot flexibility. This means that the shoe follows the movements of the foot and protects the foot from injuries.

Upper part
The upper of the Saucony Ride has many features that increase safety and comfort. The open mesh material covers the entire upper and is made of a breathable and lightweight material. With welded overlaps you get a seam-free fit. With RunDry technology, moisture and sweat are effectively transported away from the foot. In addition, the ComfotLine Sockliner adapts to your foot, heel and arch, reducing pressure on the foot without compressing the performance-enhancing close fit.
The technical construction of the Saucony Ride
Saucony Ride is Saucony’s leading neutral and lightweight shoe. The shoe gives you an optimal combination of low weight, shock absorption, comfort and durability. With the many lightweight features you get a more responsive run through better transitions and foot flexibility. And I haven’t even mentioned the improved shock absorption. The many technical solutions and constructions in Saucony Ride will give you an enjoyable run.
One of the comfortable features is the unDry technology, which ensures and maintains better ventilation to keep your foot dry throughout the run. Sweaty feet are often a problem for runners, as they are uncomfortable. With RunDry, Saucony has solved that problem. Another technology worth mentioning is the shoe’s Landing Zone and Bevelled Heel. Saucony has designed the shoe so that it can support different ways of landing on the foot. This gives the shoe greater flexibility to adapt to different running styles. The shoe’s Vertical Flex Grooves and Forefoot Configuration also provide flexibility to the shoe and increased support around your foot. In particular, there is good support around the forefoot, which helps to stabilize your foot during take-off.

The mesh material in the upper is extremely lightweight and conforms to your foot, which means it’s an important part of the shoe’s overall fit. The strong breathability will also help keep your foot dry and comfortable. To reduce the shoe’s weight and provide more flexibility, they’ve removed the midfoot shaft.
While we’re talking about comfort and cushioning, it’s worth mentioning the new IBR+ feature, which is 33% lighter than previous versions while still providing the same effective cushioning. The cushioning system is very durable due to the super light SSL EVA. While you run, you’ll find that the shoe can return to its original shape even during landings. This helps to underline how durable and cushioning the Saucony Ride is.
With the SRC Crashpad you will experience a smoother and smoother transition across the foot. The Crashpad is located at the midfoot. What it does is ensure your foot is in the most optimal position during the running motion and increase support where you need it most. To increase durability, Saucony uses their ContourLast technology. This feature is not found in any other running shoes on the market. Many runners look for comfort and durability and that is exactly what the Saucony Ride offers.

Offers and sales
It is almost always possible to find good deals or sales on Saucony Ride, as it is one of the most popular running shoes on the market. Therefore, there are many running stores, both online and physical, that will ensure that they have the lowest price on Saucony Ride, so that you will choose to buy the shoe from them. You will often find good sales or offers leading up to holidays and at the beginning and end of the running season. I have tried to help you find the lowest price on Saucony Ride in the price comparison at the top of the review.
Saucony Ride men and women
Shock absorption in the heel
In both the men’s and women’s versions, the shock absorption in the heel is really good, which helps ensure the high comfort. In the men’s version, the shock absorption has been rated at 67 out of 100, while the women’s version is rated at 70 out of 100. Regardless of the hardness of the surface, you will be assured of a pleasant running experience through the comfort of the shoe.
Forefoot cushioning
Just like in the heel, the Saucony Ride also has effective shock absorption in the forefoot, for both men and women. In the men’s version, the forefoot shock absorption is rated at 85 out of 100, while the women’s version is rated at 96. The shock absorption is even more pronounced in the forefoot than in the heel. The good thing about the Saucony Ride is that it gives you exactly as much comfort as your shoe needs.
Stiffness
The stiffness of the Saucony Ride is also high. This applies to both the men’s and women’s models. The advantage of a stiffer shoe is that it does not bend too much during take-off. For the men’s model, the stiffness rating is 98 and for the women’s model, it is 96. To avoid injuries, it is an advantage to have a stiffer running shoe.

Stability
For both models, stability has been rated at 51 out of 100. Although the shoe may not be the most stable shoe, you can still rely on the Saucony Ride without any problems. I have experienced this firsthand. The shoe is equipped with stability-enhancing features such as PowerGrip, where Saucony has combined Powerfoam material with their Grid technology. In addition to helping with stability in the foot, PoowerGrid also absorbs shock.
Similar running shoes
Running shoes on the market today are full of useful features, through the many different technologies that are used to construct the shoes. Comfort and durability are for the vast majority the determining factor when deciding whether a shoe is good or not. The Saucony Ride has been redesigned and improved through its many different versions to provide a lighter and better performing running shoe. You get plenty of comfort with its breathable and lightweight upper, which allows sweat and moisture to disappear through the shoe.
If you are considering other similar running shoes or models, I would recommend looking at the New Balance 1260, Brooks Glycering 12 and Asics Kayano. All of these shoes also offer excellent comfort. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages as they offer different features. It all depends on your preferences, of course.

New Balance 1260 is a really good all-round training shoe that you can use for training on asphalt. It is extremely durable and flexible, which means that it can be used for all kinds of running. It is not quite as light as Saucony Ride. NB 1260 is one of the world’s most popular running shoes and it is not without reason. Due to its strong durability, it is very popular among runners who travel long distances. Most often used New Balance 1260 as a training running shoe.It is especially good for daily training. In terms of price, it is usually a little higher than the Saucony Ride.
Another excellent running shoe that should also catch your attention is Brooks Glycerin. This shoe has a very high performance and is extremely durable. It is really good for heavier runners. The shoe’s very comfortable cushioning and fit means that many runners stick to the shoe. Especially for heavy runners, Glycerin will effectively protect your foot and make you less susceptible to injuries. This is done through the shoe’s effective cushioning, especially the heel.
A third shoe that can be recommended is the Asics Kayano, which I have personally run with for many years. It is a really good competitor when it comes to comfort and cushioning. The shoe adapts effectively to changing surfaces and can be used for a variety of different running workouts and competitions. It is one of the world’s most popular running shoes, which also means that the competition on price is high and you will often be able to findAsics Kayano on sale or promotion.
Summary
The Saucony Ride is sought after for its many cool features. In fact, the shoe has won awards for its comfort, safety, and ability to give runners a great experience. Saucony has put together a running shoe that best gives you what you need for long daily workouts.
It may not be a perfect running shoe, but it’s not far off and you will undoubtedly appreciate the high quality of the shoe. And at the same time, the shoe is not particularly expensive and you will get a lot of running shoes for the money, which means that after my test and review, I can clearly say that the Saucony Ride is one of the best value-for-money purchases on the market today.
