Adidas Adizero is a series of shoes with a focus on minimizing wall and maximizing performance. In other words, Adizero is a name for Adidas running shoes with a focus on competitions and faster running times. An Adidas Adizero running shoe is therefore an obvious choice for you who are looking to cut seconds off your personal best or need a pair of aggressive running shoes for your next competition. Running shoes in the Adizero series
Adidas Adizero Tempo
A lightweight running shoe that can help you break personal records at distances from 5000 meters to the marathon. I primarily recommend using the lightweight Adidas Adizero Tempo running shoes as a secondary shoe and as a competition shoe. This is because the lightweight construction can wear out relatively quickly from higher volume training. Adizero Tempo, like the other running shoes in the Adizero series, is created with performance and pace in mind. Together with the Adios Boost running shoes, which you can read more about below, the Adizero Tempo is the best Adizero running shoes for longer distances, which is why Adidas has given them more cushioning and a little more comfort.

Adidas Adizero Adios Boost
Made for fast tempo runs over longer distances. Adidas themselves write on their website that the Adidas Adizero Adios Boost running shoe is built to run first across the line in marathons. It’s probably not many of us who will try it, but Adios Boost can help you beat your own personal records and set new limits for yourself. Adizero Adios Boost is an ultra-light distance running shoe with the new energy-returning Boost midsole. The comfortable and thin upper gives you a tight fit with plenty of ventilation. The good and completely newly developed Boost shock absorption gives you the last 5% towards the end of a marathon.

Adidas Adizero Feather
As the name suggests, the Adidas Adizero Feather is built to be as light as possible and feather-light. It is an extremely lightweight competition and lightweight running shoes for the supinating or neutral runner. The lightweight running shoe weighs less than 200 g and is therefore a completely stripped-down model, created for ambitious middle-distance competitive runners. If you want to beat your buddy or your personal best in your next competition, the Adidas Adizero is a good choice. The thin upper provides adequate support and comfort while providing unmatched ventilation, so your foot can get rid of excess heat on the way to the finish line.

Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen
A competition shoe with extreme stability and speed. The shoe’s low weight of under 200g and very aggressive heel-to-toe drop of approx. 6 mm means that the shoe promotes fast running on the midfoot and forefoot and natural running as known from minimalist running shoes.
The Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen is aimed at the supinating or neutral runner. Again, this is not a running shoe that should be your primary running shoe, but should be used for tempo runs, interval training and competitions.

What is Adidas Adizero?
Adidas Adizero is a line within Adidas’ program, both running shoes, clothing, football boots, etc. I have, and will continue to, mainly concentrate on the Adizero running shoes. The Adizero line or series is Adidas’ premium line, their performance running shoes, which are designed with one thing in mind. That you should be able to run as fast as possible. Therefore, all Adidas Adizero running shoes are also characterized by the same mindset of using the most advanced technology while keeping the weight down.
Briefly about Adidas Adizero
- Weight is kept to a minimum
- The most advanced running technologies
- Performance at the forefront
- Inspired by, and used by, elite runners around the world
Adizero is more than a line. It is a concept for the way and method that Adidas uses to produce their running shoes. It is a concept where Adidas starts at zero and builds the shoe from there. Hence the name Adizero. Most shoe manufacturers work with a shoe, and then try to cut weight afterwards. That is why Adidas Adizero is so unique. They build their shoes completely opposite to all other shoe manufacturers and therefore get completely unique results.
The advanced and well thought out is that it gives the shoe a minimal weight, while providing the necessary support and stability. The shoe’s very thin upper is supported by a rib technology, which allows Adidas to keep the weight completely down. At the same time, you will experience that the shoes bottom is flatter and thinner. However, this does not necessarily mean that Adizero running shoes provide worse shock absorption. On the contrary, it provides the new Adidas Boost technology in running shoes more responsive cushioning than any other technology and midsole.
Adizero test
I have tested and reviewed several Adidas Adizero running shoes myself, and I have generally been very impressed. There is no doubt that the Adizero series makes you a faster runner over various distances. There are more Adidas Adizero running shoes than the ones I have mentioned here, including a spike shoe and other completely specialized running shoes. See the full range on Adidas’ own website.. First of all, I’ve been really impressed by the low weight and amount of effective technologies they’ve managed to fit into the shoes. For a running shoe aficionado, it’s a delight.

On the other hand, I always get a little disappointed when I try on a shoe that I know I can’t use or can’t stand being used all the time. After all, I don’t want to change running shoes all the time. However, this is often a problem with lightweight running shoes for competitions and lightning-fast runs, and therefore not just a problem I have with Adidas Adizero.
If you are looking for a running shoe that can give you that last little “edge” and a few seconds per km to make you just that bit faster, then I can definitely recommend taking a closer look at Adidas Adizero which has helped me run faster.
Comparison with other running shoes
Adizero vs. Gel Lyte33
As mentioned earlier in this guide to Adidas Adizero, it is a common name for lightweight running shoes with a focus on performance and speed. The cool Asics Gel Lyte33, which I have tested over a long period of time, has the same goals and ambitions. Gel Lyte33 is a running shoe that has a very comfortable fit, a minimal drop and a low weight and is therefore very similar to the various Adidas Adizero running shoes. It could be a really good alternative to Adidas Adizero if you prefer to stick to a brand you know, or maybe try something new. As you can read in my anmeldelse af Asics Gel Lyte33, So I have been very satisfied with the shoe.
Other technologies and running shoes similar to Adidas Adizero
There are several other running shoes that could easily be part of the Adidas Adizero series if it weren’t for the fact that they were produced by a different brand. One of the running shoes that lives up to many of the same concepts and rules of thumb, if you will, as the Adidas Adizero is the minimalist New Balance Minimus, which is perhaps even more extreme than the Adidas Adizero running shoes. It has “zero drop” and promotes a natural running style in every way.
Of the technologies, Adidas Boost is already part of some of the Adidas Adizero running shoes and I am sure that in the future we will see even more of it, and more variations of Adidas Boost in different Adizero running shoes. Adidas Boost is the brand new midsole from Adidas, which according to tests gives the best energy return on the market. I have tested it myself and I really know the running sensation. Read my review of Adidas Energy Boost. If you want to learn more technically about Adidas Boost and what I think about the technology across running shoes in general, you can find my guide to Adidas Boost here.

Adidas is of course not the only one working to minimize the weight of their running shoes. Their eternal competitor Nike has also launched their Flyknit concept, which is not a whole series of shoes, but rather a completely newly developed upper that is lighter than their previous uppers. I have reviewed several Flyknit running shoes and am generally satisfied with the concept, although it has some cosmetic flaws.

Summary
Adidas Adizero are more or less specialized running shoes that you should have a plan for. But if you have a plan and manage to use them for what they are intended for; competitions and training at a higher pace, then I am also sure that you will be able to break new records with the lightweight and race-oriented running shoes in the Adidas Adizero series.
