The Saucony Kinvara 10 replaces the Kinvara 9

The Saucony Kinvara is still this lightweight running shoe that is really good for fast runs and personal bests. The change in version doesn’t change that fact. The Saucony Kinvara is now on the streets in its 10th version. The Saucony Kinvara 9 is being replaced, and it does so with some noticeable updates to the otherwise popular running shoe.

The Saucony Kinvara 10 has, among other things, a more sublime heel step. A small thing that provides somewhat better comfort in and around the heel area. In fact, most of the updates made to the Saucony Kinvara 10 compared to the Saucony Kinvara 9 are in the direction of improved comfort.
If we look inside the shoe, this is where you will experience the most noticeable update. An insole in the shoe itself has now received something of a face-lift. It follows the shape of your foot much better now, and increases comfort considerably. It really is a fantastic update in this shoe.

Saucony Kinvara has been a bit of a special size in my eyes from day one. A distinct competition and or tempo running shoe with a low drop. But it had a bit of a strange look and seemed like a running shoe that stepped a bit sideways. It has gotten better now, but the shoe is still a bit of a difficult size for me to deal with. In Saucony Kinvara 10, however, some Flexfilm has disappeared from the upper, so it has come a step closer to looking more normal. It is difficult for me to explain what I mean. and it is not because the shoe is bad. Quite the opposite, because when you are version number 10 in a series, the shoe has shown its potential and its recognition in the market.

Saucony Kinvara has gone from 8 to 9

Kinvara is soon to be an aging gentleman on the market. The version number also testifies to this. Saucony Kinvara has been doing very well for many runners for many years.
This time it’s Kinvara 8 that has become Kinvara 9. And to be honest, AGAIN in our eyes there’s not that big of a revolutionary change to come after. We wrote the same thing when the version number changed from Kinvara 7 to Kinvara 8. And now it’s a bit the same.

Saucony Kinvara 9 is still this fast, light and flexible neutral running shoe. And if you are not the heaviest runner in the world, you can actually use the Saucony Kinvara running shoe as a regular everyday training shoe. Kinvara 9 is equipped with a full-length EVERUP top sole. It helps to give you a fantastic landing and a good push after each step. But at the same time you are also ensured that the pressure every time you land is distributed over a stable and larger area. This increases your comfort in the shoe a lot..
And as usual, you are tempted to say, in this running shoe from Saucony you also get a soft and flexible upper that hugs the foot and breathes really well. All of which helps to increase comfort to a particular extent. Because if there is a specific word to put on Saucony Kinvra 9, it is comfort. Super nice running shoe with many good features.

What should you notice in the Saucony Kinvara 8?

The wildly popular Saucony Kinvara 7 is now facing a replacement. It’s time for the 8th generation of the Kinvara shoe from Saucony. It’s a bit of a legacy that this number 8 is going to take to the road and uphold. The Saucony Kinvara 7 was a real crowd favorite, and that’s because it was a super nice and versatile running shoe that did a lot of good for the runner.

This may be one of the reasons why Saucony hasn’t made the big revolutionary change on the Kinvara 8 compared to its predecessor. It’s still a competition or speed running shoe with an ultra low weight and a really good fit, primarily due to the very flexible upper.
The shoe weighs around 225 grams, and the Saucony Kinvara 8 is spiced up with even more EVERUN, which is the part of Saucony running shoes that makes the comfort so high. So the parameters that have been tweaked in the Kinvara 8 compared to the Kinvara 7 are primarily the comfort parameters. But that shouldn’t be overlooked either. Because it seems as if a really good running shoe has just gotten that much better.

The upper is still a story in itself. It is made of FlexiFilm, which is this slightly “shiny” upper that is both ultra flexible, very durable and really just indicates speed and pace. The Saucony Kinvara 8 also retains a 4mm drop.

What was new in the Saucony Kinvara 7?

Saucony Kinvara has reached its 7th version. And what a fantastic running shoe this is. It is still, like the Saucony Kinvara 6, a neutral pace and competition running shoe. That’s because the shoe still weighs incredibly little. We’re talking about a weight of 218 grams for a Saucony Kinvara 7 (that’s a size 42) And the fact alone that it weighs so little should make it a dream for many runners.
But not only does it weigh very little, there is still a great comfort in the Saucony Kinvara 7. This is one of those places where runners often have to compromise a bit when they want a light running shoe. But I think that Saucony has managed to combine the low weight with a relatively high comfort really well in this version of the Kinvara.

This running shoe has a 4mm drop (heel height 22mm and forefoot 18mm), so it’s a somewhat lower drop than you’re used to seeing in a “regular running shoe”. This means you feel closer to the ground, and you will automatically run a little more on the midfoot and forefoot..
The upper is made of the popular FLIXFILM from Saucony. An upper that invites speed and pace. It is super flexible, it has a high level of comfort and sits well on the foot, and last but not least, it has an extremely high breathability which ensures you a high level of comfort inside the shoe as well. Is especially good on hot days.

Saucony Kinvara 1 review

Another new feature in the shoe is the platform in the midsole and on the outsole. It has become more durable than before and is made of an improved EVA+ material. Because of this platform, there is a good foundation for the outsole, which gives you higher comfort and the necessary protection against unevenness in the surface.

Strategically placed iBR+ rubber also provides increased durability. In addition to that, it also helps to ensure good shock absorption on the outsole. Saucony Kinvara 5 has RunDry in the upper, which is a new material that helps transport moisture and sweat weight from the foot. The shoe’s tight but comfortable fit ensures that your foot does not slide around in the shoe. Which, among other things, comes with PRO-LOCK technology, which is a dynamic fit that moves and bends with the foot. This makes the shoe feel like an extension of the body. The technology is in demand among many elite athletes.

Saucony Kinvara 2 review

Last but not least, the PowerGrid technology is installed in the heel, in which the Powerfoam and Grid technologies have been combined, so that with every step you will experience fantastic cushioning and responsiveness. There are also ProGrid versions of the Saucony Kinvara, in which it is a unique blend of shock absorption and responsiveness. Shoes with ProGrid technology are on average 20% more responsive than their predecessors.

My review of Saucony Kinvara

As a runner, I am always looking for running shoes that are comfortable, safe and durable. Saucony Kinvara has it all. Every time I ran in the shoe, I was satisfied and happy with my shoes. Based on the many features, the shoe has a strong performance that makes my running comfortable and safe. In addition, the Kinvara weighs only 218 grams, which is very light for a running shoe. It therefore feels very liberating and natural to run. Due to my many positive experiences with Saucony Kinvara, I am very much looking forward to using the shoes for my futuremarathonløb.So far I have not been disappointed and I certainly do not expect that to happen in the future.

First impressions

When it comes to the aesthetic part of it, I think the Saucony Kinvara is incredibly beautiful. That’s one of the reasons why I initially became interested in knowing more about the running shoe. You can choose between many different colors for both men and women. After reading a lot of information about the shoe, I expect a lot from the Kinvara. Something that impressed me from the start was the shoe’s PowerGrid heel, which helps stabilize the foot and absorb shock from the surface. At the same time, it provides a very smooth and comfortable run. Inside the shoe you have a very secure fit, with memory foam in the heel, which adapts to your foot and remembers. It is therefore not surprising that many runners love the shoe.

I was impressed by the many features in the Saucony Kinvara, which led me to purchase these. Running in them has been both fun and comfortable.

Advantages and disadvantages

Benefits

Low weight

Compared to other running shoes, the Suacony Kinvara is very light. The shoe weighs just 225 grams. This means that it feels super easy and natural to run in the shoes. All the shoe's materials and features have been weighed, measured and improved to keep the weight down.

Comfort

When choosing a new pair of running shoes, it is important to find out if they are comfortable. The Saucony Kinvara provides plenty of comfort while you run. Its good shock absorption ensures you a responsive and comfortable run. The strategic placements of iBR+ rubber provide improved shock absorption on the outsole. This shoe gives you comfort at all times.

Aesthetics

Just by looking at the Saucony Kinvara you will be attracted to it. The shoe looks just as elegant as much more expensive running shoes. At the same time, there are several colors available, so you can choose the shoe that looks best on you. There are many running shoes that have a fantastic performance, but often they forget how important it is to have beautiful running shoes as well.

Disadvantages

Durability

Saucony Kinvara are said to not be very durable. That is also the experience I had with my running shoes, which unfortunately did not last as long as I had expected. And it is better to change running shoes a little too early than a little too late to avoid risking injuries.

Who is the shoe aimed at?

Price

The price of Saucony Kinvara has a suggested retail price of around 1300 DKK. And most often it will be possible to find Kinvara at discounted prices or on sale, which means that the shoe can be bought really cheaply. I have found the market’s cheapest prices for you in the price comparison above.

Saucony Kinvara 4 profile review and test

Running style

Saucony Kinvara is suitable for neutral runners, which means that all parts of your foot strike the ground at the same time and with the same force. At the same time, the shoe is good for overpronating runners, where the foot rolls inward as you shift weight from heel to toe. It is very important to know what your running style is in order to find the best shoe for your needs. This helps to make your run more comfortable and minimizes the risk of injury.

Terrain

You can run on trails, gravel or asphalt with the Saucony Kinvara. The good thing about this shoe is that it has a good grip on the surface, which ensures that you don’t slip. Even if it’s wet and slippery. The secure and tight fit also helps keep your foot in place, so you don’t wriggle or slide around in the shoe when you run on uneven surfaces.

Use

Saucony Kinvara is a minimalist running shoe which can be used for daily training, intervals or competitions. For those of you who train every day, it will be a really good choice. Due to its low weight, Kinvara is also ideal for use in intervals and competitions. Even on such long distances as a marathon. With its effective shock absorption, you can run a lot of kilometers.

Saucony Kinvara 5 16 close-up

Durability

To improve the durability of the running shoe, Saucony has included a number of features in the shoe. However, it has not been effective enough, as in my test I experienced that the shoe wore out disproportionately quickly. However, I had expected more from a running shoe in this price range.

Size in Saucony Kinvara

The size of the Saucony Kinvara is the same as similar running shoes. It has a standard running shoe length, which means you can simply transfer your size from other running shoes to the Saucony Kinvara. This also makes it easier to buy the shoe online.

Weight

The weight of the Saucony Kinvara is just 213 grams (size 42). It is a really light shoe that will make it easy to take long and fast steps. I have experienced that some runners have complained a little that the shoe is too light and that it can be difficult to control. However, that is not something I have experienced and I am very satisfied with the low weight, which makes it very natural to run.

Saucony Kinvara 9 version 5 review and comment

Heel height

The heel height of the Saucony Kinvara is just 22 mm. With this height, you will not feel any discomfort in the heel, even if you step on large bumps in the road. The heel gives you all the protection and shock absorption that you need.

Forefoot height

The forefoot height in the Kinvara is 18 mm. This height provides adequate and comfortable shock absorption without compressing the responsive and natural run and push-off in the forefoot.

Heel to toe drop in Saucony Kinvara

The heel-to-toe drop is just 4 mm. It is very minimal and minimalistic, which makes it a running shoe that can be difficult for some to run in. Especially if you have been used to running in shoes with a high drop. I can therefore recommend a slow adaptation period to the Saucony Kinvara, especially if you are a pronounced heel lander. A low heel-to-toe drop promotes running on the midfoot and forefoot.

Shoe construction

Outsole

The outsole of the Saucony Kinvara is made of a Carbon rubber material known as XT-900 technology. This outsole provides durable grip on any surface, which means you can run freely knowing that you have a good grip on the surface. You can trust Kinvara. This means there is no longer any excuse not to run if it rains. Another good technology in the outsole is the shoe’s Triangular Lug Design, which also helps ensure a strong grip on the surface. At the same time, it also helps the shock absorption in the shoe. Which means that the comfort of the shoe already starts in the outsole.

Saucony Kinvara 5 rear view diagonally

Midsole

In the Saucony Kinvara midsole you will find the EVA+ material. This means that you get the same effective shock absorption as always, but in a more durable and lightweight material. With the heel PowerGrid technology you are guaranteed the most effective and lightweight shock absorption. This provides a comfortable run. The combination of comfort and lightweight performance is unique to Saucony Kinvara and helps to separate it from other running shoes.

Upper part

The upper of the Saucony Kinvara is made of an open mesh material, which is extremely breathable. The mesh material is super light and covers the entire upper of the shoe. This way, no matter how long you run, you will have a well-ventilated foot. This is really important for comfort, especially if you have problems with sweaty feet. The material on the inside of the shoe is HydraMAX Collar Lining, which fits tightly around the foot and helps transport moisture away.

Saucony Kinvara 6 front section

To guarantee the most secure and tight fit, the shoe has a Flex Film overlap, which is made of an extremely thin film that is welded together with the upper. This helps to keep the foot in place without creating pressure points and discomfort for the foot. With the tight fit, you can train anything in the Saucony Kinvara, from long distance to sprint without having to worry about your foot. The shoe’s memory foam in the heel has been one of the features that I have been most satisfied with, as it has helped to give me an extraordinarily secure fit in the heel, which has been effectively held in place.

Technical construction in Saucony Kinvara

Despite many runners preferring older versions of the Saucony Kinvara and my own concerns about the durability of the shoe, there is still a reason why I prefer the shoe over other running shoes available on the market. One of the reasons for that is the highly technical construction of the Saucony Kinvara, which I will review below. Here you will get a thorough introduction to the most important features and technologies.

Saucony Kinvara 16 powergrid

One of the most important elements of the Kinvara is its PowerGrid shock absorption in the heel. With this technology, which combines Powderfoam material with Grid technology, the foot ensures stability and absorbs the strong shocks from the surface, which can otherwise give you pain. This technology helps to ensure the extremely comfortable shock absorption in the Kinvara. Even on long distances you will experience good and strong comfort.

With its PRO-LOCK technology, which moves and bends with your foot, the Saucony Kinvara feels almost like it has become a part of your body. By following the movements of your foot, the shoe can protect you from the ground and injuries at all times. At the same time, it keeps your foot stable inside the shoe, even during hard training sessions.

The shoe’s secure grip on the ground is handled by several different technologies. The most prominent is the XT-900 outsole, which provides durable and long-lasting grip on many different surfaces. At the same time, the outsole is designed with Triangular Lug Design, which is a specially designed outsole that provides effective shock absorption.

Saucony Kinvara 12 pro flap

I’ve talked a lot about cushioning and for good reason. Kinvara cushioning is preferred by many runners. One of the reasons for this is its Gid Cushioning System which provides superior cushioning and stability, as it uses woven Hytrel filaments in the center heel. It absorbs and deflects shock and protects not only your foot, but your entire body from damaging impacts from the ground. The ProGrid Cushioning System provides cushioning and stability without increasing the weight or size of the shoe.

Sales and offers

Saucony Kinvara is definitely not the most expensive running shoe on the market, but there is no reason to pay more than necessary. I have therefore collected the market’s best offers and lowest prices in the price comparator at the top of the review. It is not difficult to find good offers or sales on Saucony Kinvara online, as the competition is fierce and all stores want to be cheap. Generally, running shoes are cheaper online.

Saucony Kinvara 7 sole outsole

Men’s and women’s Kinvara

Shock absorption in the heel

The heel cushioning of the Saucony Kinvara is rated at 8 out of 10. This means that you can be sure to get a shoe with strong and effective heel cushioning and shock absorption. The comfort is therefore top-notch and the risk of injury or pain is greatly reduced.

Shock absorption in the forefoot

As in the heel, the shock absorption in the forefoot is rated at 8 out of 10. This means that you have effective shock absorption in the forefoot. This helps to ensure the shoe’s high comfort and safety.

Saucony Kinvara 8 wedge on the inside

Stiffness

When it comes to the stiffness of the shoe, the Saucony Kinvara is rated 3 out of 10. With a rating closer to 0 than 10, you get a very flexible shoe, which allows your foot to move more freely and naturally. This fits with the shoe’s low drop, but it’s also something to be aware of if you’ve previously run in very stiff and supportive running shoes. The Kinvara leaves more of the control to the muscles in the foot.

Stability

The stability is rated at 7 out of 10. Compared to other running shoes, it may be a bit on the lower end. However, it is still a good score and you will definitely experience good stability, among other things due to the shoe’s PowerGrid system. When choosing running shoes, it is important to pay attention to what stability features your running shoe has to protect yourself from foot and ankle injuries.

Comparable running shoes

Besides the Saucony Kinvara, there are many comparable running shoes that will satisfy your running needs. Some of the ones you might want to consider are the New Balance Minimus, Asics DS Racer and Nike Flyknit Lunar. You will find a similar minimalist build, features and low weight to the Saucony Kinvara.

Saucony Kinvara 10 sole EVA

The New Balance Minimus is an even more minimalist running shoe than the Kinvara. It weighs just 162 grams. For runners who are very used to lightweight shoes, it might be a good idea to try these shoes. Compared to the other shoes I’m referring to, it’s clearly the lightest.

Once you have gotten used to the minimalist construction and strengthened your foot muscles, you will be able to run longer distances with no problem. New Balance Minimus. The flat shoe will force you forward on your foot, which will result in a more agile and aggressive run.

For shorter distances and with a greater focus on intervals or competitions, you could consider looking at the lightweight Asics DS Racer running shoe, which is primarily aimed at neutral and overpronating runners, but which I have also used, despite the fact that I am a slightly overpronating runner. It is an agile running shoe with a focus on performance and speed.

Saucony Kinvara 11 front from profile

The Nike Flyknit Lunar was one of the first running shoes that Nike offered with the new Flyknit upper, which is constructed in a revolutionary way, ensuring that the weight is completely minimal. In Nike Flyknit Lunar They have combined the new technology with the extremely popular Lunar cushioning, which is known to give all runners a comfortable and enjoyable running experience.

Collection

I had a lot of fun running with the Saucony Kinvara. Its many different features and technologies have given the shoe a very high performance that I have been really happy with. For runners who want to run with a low drop without compromising on comfortable cushioning, the Kinvara is an obvious choice.

Saucony Kinvara 15 flexibility

You will definitely not regret buying the shoes, as you get a lot of performance and running shoes for the money. So if you are on a budget, but do not want to compromise with your running shoes, you do not need to look any further. There are a few disadvantages to the Saucony Kinvara, but I think they are clearly outweighed by the positive elements of the running shoe. Different runners have different preferences and needs. To be safe and comfortable, it is important that you know your needs to choose the right running shoe. If you would like to start running more minimalist and natural, then the Saucony Kinvara is a really good step on the way.
